WKU’s Housing and Residence Life hosted the
20th annual Valleypalooza on April 10th in “the Valley”
between Gilbert Hall, McCormack Hall and Rhodes Hall.
Students were able to come outside, enjoy the
weather and participate in various activities that were set
up for students.
The event had everything from a dunk tank to a live
band to inflatables and cotton candy.
Some students lounged on blankets and enjoyed
the sun, while others took on the inflatable challenges,
including an obstacle course and a wrestling ring.
“It was fun to just chill, enjoy the concert and
finally be out in the warm weather,” sophomore Maura
Blankenship said. Blankenship has lived in Gilbert Hall
for one year.
A slack line, brought by Outdoor Recreation
Adventure Center (ORAC), offered students a chance to
test their strength and balance.
Hall directors and Resident Assistants served hot
dogs, cotton candy, and popsicles to the students who
stopped by throughout the day.
Michelle Hicks, a sophomore and two-year resident
of Gilbert Hall came out in the evening to play volleyball
and relax with friends. “It was such a fun way to hang out
and enjoy our campus,” Hicks said.
“Palooza like it’s 1993,” was the theme of the night,
which included a playlist of songs popular in 1993, as
well as free t-shirts that listed pop culture references from
the time.
Valleypalooza was a hit among students, and carried
out its 20 year legacy.
