Social Story: How to Shoot a Basketball
I like to shoot basketball. It feels great to make a basket and hear the sound of the net “swoosh”.
When I shoot the ball, I use both hands. I have to keep one hand on the side of the ball and my other hand
under the ball.
Then I bend my knees and elbows. I face the basket.
When I am in position, I look at the rim of the basket.
I will work on aiming to shoot the ball just above the rim and throw it hard enough to get it there.
When I am ready to shoot the ball, I will push of with my feet and jump.
While in the air, I will raise the arm below the ball and get ready to push it towards the basket. The ball will be
above my head before I let go.
I will flick my wrist and push the ball towards the basket.
I can try to use my other hand to guide the ball as my strong hand throws it towards the basket.
I have to shoot a basketball like this so its accurate, easier and so I don’t get hurt.
I have to be careful and make sure no one is underneath the basketball hoop before I shoot so no
one gets hit with the ball.
I will try to be careful not to throw the basketball in the direction of others.
Shooting a basketball can cause injury to my friends if I am not careful, and hurt them a lot.
Shooting basketball with friends can be fun and safe.
When I score a basket, it is okay to be loud and cheer.
My parents and friends like it when I make the basketball in the hoop.
I will try my best to shoot the basketball and make it into the net.
