P R E S I D E N T ’ S M E S S A G E
I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season and thank you to everyone who came out
for another successful breakfast meeting in December. We are approaching the halfway
point of our 2012-2013 program year and we have some exciting events coming up. If you
missed last month’s newsletter, our annual night at the Flyers has been rescheduled due to
the NHL lockout. We will instead be attending the Penn State Hockey game at the Wells
Fargo Center on January 19. Please see the announcement in this newsletter for more
information. We are also working on finalizing the details for another TAB training session
hosted by the Local 19 Sheet Metal Workers Union.
Hopefully by now everyone is aware that February 15-23 is the 2013 Delaware Valley
Engineers’ Week. This event has been held annually in conjunction with National
Engineers’ Week since 1953. I would like to encourage everyone to take part in these
activities which help inform citizens of the value of engineers as well as promote
engineering, science, and mathematics among our youth. Head over to www.dvewc.org for
more information.
One of the programs that makes up National Engineers’ Week in Washington DC is the
Future City Competition Finals. Philadelphia holds a regional event every year to recognize
local students and select a team to send to the finals in DC. This year’s regional
completion is scheduled for January 26th at the Local 19 Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall.
The committee is always looking for volunteers to help run this event. Please see the
message from Jennifer Wetzel later in this newsletter if you are interested in volunteering
your time.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the hockey game on January 19.

ASHRAE meeting at Dave and Buster’s.

Ideas for Seminars?
The Chapter Technology Transfer Committee is responsible for providing educational
programming in the form of several seminars per year. Last year, the committee
presented three half-day seminars on timely HVAC topics: data center cooling, lab
design and energy modeling. The committee is planning similar events for the 2012-13
Chapter year, and we want to hear from you about content you would find relevant for a
half-day seminar. Please send ideas to the
Chapter Technology Transfer Committee at [email protected].
