Conclusion
Heat pumps efficiently provide renewable energy for heating, cooling, hot waterwork
Residential, commercial and industrial solutions are available
Despite the match with EU climate and energy targets, no clear recognition across MS
More work needed by Commission, Member States and industry to remedy the situation
Heat pump market development in Europe | Thomas Nowak | IEA heat pump conference 15.5.2014
13
Policy request towards “full steam ahead”
Implementation of legislation on the Member State level
Equal treatment of technologies with regards to
subsidies/taxation
Proper and consistent recognition of heating / cooling
and heat pumps in all policy documents addressing energy
improved data basis for policy modeling on energy use in
buildings and industry
Support for heat pumps in horizon 2020 (basic research),
evaluation of projects vs. the contribution to targets

The European Heat Pump Association EEIG
EHPA is a Brussels based industry association which aims at promoting
awareness and proper deployment of heat pump technology in the European
market place for residential, commercial and industrial applications. EHPA provides
technical and economic input to European, national and local authorities in
legislative, regulatory and energy efficiency matters. All activities are aimed at
overcoming market barriers and dissemination of information in order to speed up
market development of heat pumps for heating, cooling and hot water production.
EHPA coordinates a quality initiative including a Quality label for heat pumps and
Certification standards for heat pump installers. The association compiles the
annual heat pump statistics and organizes a number of events, among them an
annual heat pump conference.
