What is Piano?
A large keyboard musical instrument with a
wooden case enclosing a soundboard and
metal strings, which are struck by hammers
when the keys are depressed. The strings'
vibration is stopped by dampers when the
keys are released and can be regulated for
length and volume by two or three pedals.
Piano Includes
The piano has 88 keys, which are black and
white.
There are 7 different notes: A,B,C,D,E, F
and G.
There are also flat and sharp version of
each note, which change the tone of the
note slightly.

Each notes makes a different sound.
Each sound has given been given a name to
make it easier to learn.
Getting Familiar with the Piano
Keys The black keys are used to play sharp and
flat notes and appear in group of twos and
threes.
Middle key is the white key to the left of the
two black keys.
Place finger 1 on middle. If you go up and
down the entire length of piano.
Picking It Up a Bit
Pick up a bit and try to playing a easy song.
Study the diagram showing the keys and
music sheets. The 4/4 to the left of the clef
means each bar requires four beats. Go to
the next step to learn the count for each
note on the music sheet.
Music Notes and Timing
Each note indicate that how much time it
should receive.
Whole Note – Four beats(1and 2 and 3 and
4 and)
Half note – Two beats(1 and 2 and)
Quarter note – One beat( 1 and)
Connecting the Notes
The first measure of the music sheet has
three E notes. Two are quarter notes and
the a half note. Play these until you get the
hang of it then move on to the other
measures until you can play them in
succession.
Review and Practice
Revise step one to five continuously until
you can play your song.
If you are confident then you can learn
piano keys and the music notes.
You can play other songs also which
require both hands.
