Afterremovingashfromthecoolchambereachmorning,theplantwillbecycledthroughaPre-heatperiod.Duringthisperiodtheafterburneroperates,toelevatethesecondarychambertotemperatureinexcessofthetemperaturedefinedbytheapplicableenvironmentalstandard.Oncethishasbeenachieved,afterabout15

minutes,andrecognisedbythecontrolsystemtheplantautomaticallycyclesintoaBurnPeriod.

Abulkloadofbaggedorloosewasteisthenintroducedintotheprimarychambereithermanuallyviathebulkand/orbatchloaddoorsorviatheautomaticloader.

Withwastedepositedonthehearthofthechamber,ignitionwillbeprovidedbyoneorseveralStarvedairgasificationunitsThermaloxidisersSludge/liquidwasteincineratorsWasteoilcombustionplantWastetoenergysystemsburnerspositionedtoensureefficientcoverageofthehearth.Combustionairwillalsobeprovidedbyafanintheformofhighpressure,highvelocityair,tostrategicareasofthefirebedandsecondarychamber.

Theproductsofcombustionfromtheprimarychamberwillexhaustintothesecondarychamberlocateddirectlyabovetheprimarychamberfortreatment.Withinthesecondarychamberadditionalheatandairareaddedtopromotecombustioninthegaseousphase.Thesegaseswillresidewithinthechamberattheminimumspecifiedtimeandtemperature,thusensuringcompletecombustionofthevolatileandsolidparticulate.

Treatedgaseswillexitthesecondarychamber,directlyintothesecondarychambermountedrefractorylinedexhaustchimney.

Continuousloadingiscarriedoutthroughouttheday,untilthelastchargehasbeenintroduced.ThereaftertheoperatormayselectCoolDowncycle.Thisfunctionautomaticallyensurescompletionoftheincinerationprocessandcyclestheunitthroughacontrolledcoolingandshutdownprocesstoenablesaferemovaloftheashthefollowingmorning,priortostartup.

Tomanagetherenderedfatsandliquidsreleasedfromthewaste,aburnerwillbefiredunderthehearth,toelevatethetemperatureofthehearth.Thisestablisheddesign,ensuresefficientdestructionofeventhewettestofwastes.

Theproductsofcombustionfromtheprimarychamberwillexhaustintothesecondarychamberlocateddirectlyabovetheprimarychamberfortreatment.Withinthesecondarychamberadditionalheatandairareaddedtopromotecombustioninthegaseousphase.Thesegaseswillresidewithinthechamberforatleast2secondsataminimumtemperatureof850°Cthusensuringcompletecombustionofthevolatileandsolidparticulate.

FluegasesleavingtheSecondaryChamberwillbemonitoredforoxygencontentbyacontinuousoxygenanalyser.Theoutputfromthisanalyserwillbeusedto

Afterremovingashfromthecoolchambereachmorning,theplantwillbecycledthroughapre-heatperiod.Duringthisperiodtheafterburneroperates,toelevatethesecondarychambertotemperatureinexcessof850°C.Oncethishasbeenachievedandrecognisedbythecontrolsystemtheplantautomaticallycyclesintoaburnperiod.

Atthisstageallloadingfunctionsbecomeavailable.Inthecaseoftheautomaticloadversionanimalcarcassesmaybedeliveredtoabintippingmachineadjacenttotheramloader,inwheeled660litrecontainers.Onceengagedintothetipperthebinwillbeelevatedautomaticallyandtippedintotheramloader.

Withthewastetippedintheloader,theselectionofaspringreturnswitchontheadjacentsatellitecontrolstationclosesthefeeddoor.Providingvarioustemperatureandemissioninterlocksareproven,thehydraulicchargedoorwhichsealstheprimarychamberfromtheloadingmachinewillpoweropenandahydraulicramwilldrivethewasteintotheprimarychamber.Onceinsidetheramwillreverseandthechargedoorwillcloseinpreparationforthenextcharge.

Withwastedepositedonthehearthofthechamber,ignitionwillbeprovidedbytwoormoreignitionburnerspositionedtoensureefficientcoverageofthehearth.Combustionairwillalsobeprovidedintheformofhighpressure,highvelocityair,tostrategicareasofthefirebedandsecondarychamber.

Periodicallyarefractoryhearthramwilladvanceintothechamberunderhydraulicpressuresweepingwasteoffsecondhearthontothefinalthirdhearth.Wasteonthethirdhearthwillbeprocessedtoashbytheintroductionofairbeforeitisfinallydischargedbytheactionofasecondhearthramintothesealedashsump,whichincorporatesagratetogradetheash,thusensuringitisthoroughlyburntout.Airwillbeblownintotheashsumptocompletecombustionandtocooltheash.Asdemandedbythecontrolsystemahydraulicallyoperatedashdoorwillperiodicallyopenforseveralsecondsreleasingashintoashconveyor.

Basic Plant DescriptionSolidwasteforcombustionenterstheverticalliftdoorfromtheramloaderatintervalsofevery15-20minutes,subjecttothewasteprofile.

Theprimarychamberhasthreehearthsincascade.Whenintroducedthewasteresidesontheupperhearthontowhichthefirsthearthignitionburnerisfocused,toinitiatedehydrationandinitialcombustionofthewaste.Asthewasteisdehydratedeachsubsequentloadploughsthroughthepreviouschargecausingthewastetotumbleandfallintothesecondhearth.Thetumblingactionofthewastefallingfromonehearthtothenextbreaksupthewasteandexposesfreshfacesofthewastetothecombustionairensuringcompleteburnoutofthewaste.Withwasteresidingonthesecondhearth,asecondprimaryburnerensuresignitionofthewastepreviouslyinsulatedandnowexposedthroughthetumblingactionofthehearths.

Closecontroloftheprimarychambercombustionprocessisprovidedintheformofcombustionairflowanddistribution,wastefeedflowandsupplementaryburneroperationwherenecessary.

Oncethewastehasbeenignited,theelevatedtemperaturewillberecognizedbythecontrolsystemandtheprimaryburnerswillstagelowfireandthenOFF.Tosupportcombustion,pressurisedairwillbeinjectedintothewasteateachhearthlevelthusensuringintimatemixingoftheairandwasteforgoodcombustion.Theamountofairintroducedwillbeaccuratelymetered
