Blocks & Pulleys
Blocks & Pulleys
Blocks are simple devices that consist of a grooved wheel through which a rope or cable can run and change the direction of the force needed to lift a load thus increasing the mechanical advantage. More than one block in a rigging system of any type is known as a block and tackle.
Blocks & PulleysWhere blocks are used
Blocks & Pulleys
Blocks are used wherever there is a need to lift or move a heavy load. The uses are numerous and include lifting gear in the construction industry; vehicle breakdown gear; leisure activities such as mountain chairlifts and hoisting yacht sails; bed hoists for the infirm and disabled; safety lifting gear; mountain or water rescue gear; suspension bridges; industrial safety equipment.

Stainless Steel Rigging
Stainless steel shacklesShackles are generally regarded as U-shaped pieces of steel with a securing pin (Clevis Pin) which used as a connecting link in all manner of rigging systems, from boats and ships to industrial crane rigging. They are used with stainless wire cables & rope, in railings or with stainless rod.
There are number of different Shackle types available in the Ronstan range:
• D-shackles• Long D- shackles• Twisted shackles• Bow shackles
Shackles
Snap Shackles
Snap Shackles
Snap Shackles are fast action fasteners. Ideal for single handed implementation, they use a spring activated locking mechanism to close a hinged shackle. One of the benefits is that they can be unfastened under load.
S - HooksOur S-Hooks are made of Grade 316 Stainless Steel which used in industrial rigging as well as in playgrounds, and marine environments there are numerous additional applications when used with attachments for chain, rope, webbing, and wire ropes and cabling.
S-Hooks
CarabinersA carabiner is a metal loop, usually D-shaped but sometimes oval, which has one spring-hinged side, called the gate, and one straight side called the spine. It is used to hold a freely running rope and also to quickly and reversibly connect components.
Carbine Hooks
Eye Bolts
An eye bolt is a bolt with a looped head with screw threads at the other end. Eye bolts have many uses for industrial applications such as tie-downs, lifting and attaching steel wires to fence posts.
Eye Bolts
SwivelsA swivel is a connection that enables the 2 connected objects to swivel independently ensuring they do not get tangled up. Either end of the swivel is generally connected to a wire rope, cable, chain, rope, webbing, thimble or wire attachments.
Swivel Shackles
Pad EyesA pad eye is a device that a line runs through to provide an attachment point, they are often found on boats, and often welded or bolted to the deck or the hull of the boat.

Cleats
A cleat is a device for securinga line, the term was first appliedto pieces of metal or wood withprojecting arms on which a ropecould be wound, thus securingthe load on the rope, forexample to fix in place thehalyard used to hoist a flagor a sail.
Cleats
CleatsWhere cleats are used
The most common use of cleats is wherever a line needs to be temporarily secured. Cleats enable the line to be tightened or loosened in order to raise, lower or release a load, the line is then re-secured when the required tension is achieved.

Sheaves
Sheave is an integral part ofa pulley. It is the freely rotatinggrooved wheel held betweenthe two flanges of a pulley, with the drive element, e.g.rope, chain, cable, etc., fittinginto the groove in the wheel.
Sheaves
SheavesWhere sheaves are used
Sheaves are used wherever a pulley is used, they are an essential part of a pulley, without which the drive element, i.e. the rope, the wire or the cable, would not move smoothly or effectively.
