Input gear data into Excel Crown Face gear software. The gear tooth form is generated by the generating pinion.
The program offers an involute generating pinion tooth form by default. But you can input any generating tooth
for you like within reasonable limits.
Run “Crown” macro. The macro may run too very if very high accuracy of surface selected. Macro will open save
windows so save gear and pinion iges surfaces that you will use for making 3d gear models in CAD software
Make gear blank. The face of the crown gear is located at ½ of generating pinion root diameter.
Import previously saved iges crown gear tooth surface
Use instance geometry to mirror the tooth surface.
Close the gap in the root with mesh surface
Use “Combine” to sew surfaces together
Extend surface if needed to completely overlap the blank.
Use final surface to “Trim Body”
Right click on Trim Body in part navigator area and Group it with a new name
Use Circular Array in Instance Feature to make all the remaining cuts
In this example the gear has 87 teeth so the Angle is 360/87
Pinion blank is built with 0Z-axis
Import previously saved iges surface of the pinion tooth. Extend to overlap if needed.
Cut sluts using Group and circular pattern similar to the gear. Rotate the gear or the pinion for a correct angle if
needed.
