God’s blessings,
This year is getting more and more exciting for us at IRI.
While I have been working as Missionary-in-Residence at LCU, Al
has been traveling the western U.S., speaking with friends and sup-
porters about IRI and the impact that our training and discipleship pro-
gram is having in Mozambique and around the world. He has spent
many days working with church, community, and business leaders
explaining our ideas and plans for the future. He has been encouraged
by the increasing level of interest people are showing in ABC think-
ing. It has been a long road for us, using Dr. Cook’s theories and semi-
nar material as a foundation to build new development programs along
with the old training system. It was hard to explain what we were
about at first, but as understanding of our program has grown, so has the excitement about our
work, and it is great to see such enthusiasm.
Al is scheduled to return to Mozambique this month, where he will meet with Leo-
nard, our local director, and get updates on the many projects IRI is working on in the Chi-
moio area. As many of you know, with the help of IRI, the Mozambican nationals have started
several church– and community-oriented development projects, and have several more that
still require seed money to begin. While we know the nationals are doing a great job, many of
these projects are new, and they have many questions that Al will be addressing while he is
there. He will also be helping Leonard locate a suitable vehicle for our work. Please pray for
this purchase as well as these projects. The Mozambicans are doing a great job, and we want
to support them as best we can for their sake, and for the sake of the kingdom.
In order to help our supporters see what projects are currently in need of funding, we
have been working on a “partnership booklet” that provides an overview of many of the big-
gest projects the Mozambicans want to start, as well as the estimated start-up costs in U.S.
dollars. All of these projects are locally initiated and operated, and our goal for all of them is
to make them self-sustaining. Once we invest the initial seed money, the rest of the upkeep and
development will be in the hands of the nationals. They are excited about this opportunity, and
I hope they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ingenuity and creativity as they im-
plement these programs.
As the school year here at Lincoln Christian College draws to a close, I am making
preparations to move on to the next place God calls me to go—namely, Spokane, WA. Spo-
kane is a good choice for my next base of operation. It is located in the northwest, near many
friends and supporters in Montana, Oregon, and Washington State. In the past, it has been hard
to visit many of these people, as they are a bit off the regular Midwestern travel path for us,
but now it will be easier for me to keep in touch with them. In addition, Spokane is home to a
well-connected airport, making trips into and out of the area easier. Finally, there are many
groups we want to reach out to and work with in the northwest, and Spokane is located in a
good place to visit potential partners in a least 4 nearby states. On a personal level, Spokane
has several higher academic institutions and businesses in the area that I may be able to work
with to generate additional income, as the savings that I had built in order to take time to work
with IRI full-time has now been used up. With some extra income, I should have additional
opportunity to travel.
Speaking of travel, Al and I both have plans for projects outside the U.S. this year.
After Al returns to Mozambique, he and Leonard plan to leave in the fall to visit the Philip-
pines and Myanmar to put on training and coaching programs for the nationals in both coun-
tries. We were invited to come and work with these wonderful people last year when we vis-
ited the Philippines and Hong Kong with Ken Smyth, and it is great that Leonard will be able
to accompany us. His experiences in Mozambique will add a new perspective to the work we
have already started. He and Al will be traveling most of the fall and returning in early win-
ter—Al to the U.S. and Leonard to Mozambique.

Nichols Notes cont.
In the meantime, I will be travelling to Hong Kong in October to work with Kitty Ho, our
representative and board member in HK. We will be working with local churches and educators,
helping them develop critical thinking skills so that they can more effectively teach others. I am
planning to spend about a month there before returning to the U.S.—I’m really looking forward to
the trip! My only regret is that I will probably not be able to see Leonard this year, even though we
will both be traveling in the South Pacific.
That’s the brief summary of our plans for next fall. This summer will largely be work in
Mozambique (for Al), moving to Washington and getting set up there (for me), and getting ready
for our work in the fall (for all of us). Thank you, our friends, for all your support and encourage-
ment over the last few years. We hope God has blessed all of you as much as He has blessed us
during this ministry. May he bless and watch over us all as we move into the summer months!

NEW THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
In Africa we have a fatalistic notion that if our parents got something wrong we are stuck. When
we are struck by drought, despite having big rivers, we prefer to die than think. Where there is war,
it will be the end of the world. We assume that events are the unpredictable results of invisible per-
sonalities and powers. We assume that things just happen supernaturally. This is not what God is
about. New things are possible.
It was in 2011 when a team form North America, Al and Velma Corson, and Jason Nich-
ols turned us, the people of Africa, Mozambique in particular, from darkness to light and from Sa-
tan to God. These blessed people brought light and salvation to Africa. They unleashed a new and
thrilling, true Biblical message to us. For years I had been wondering what was missing in the Af-
rican continent!
After having participated in the ABC Thinking English Seminar for the first time
I teamed up with Al and Jason to hold the first ABC Thinking seminar in Portuguese. I interpreted
for Jason Nichols who conducted the seminar.
Although I did not have the required experience to team up with my new found friends
and brothers in Christ, I was motivated by their unique biblical teaching. The magnitude of the

message they brought from America encouraged me
to stand firm as an individual and to make important
decisions. I transformed each day of the seminar, thus
I thought it imperative to help transform my fellow
citizens too. I know my own people needed the truth
for them to transform as the whole of Africa is half
educated and that is the root cause of the numerous
problems we are having in our continent. However, I
did not know that my decision in March 2011 at that
first Portuguese seminar could bring such excellent
results.
There were 13 participants from different parts of Mozambique in that seminar. In the
picture above are two pastors who came all the way from Nacala to attend. On the left is
pastor Constantino Saquiha Maquiha and on the right is pastor Almeida Bendo Nahavule.
Both paid me a visit in March of this year (2014). They remember the seminar vividly and
have never heard anything similar in their living memory. They are preaching ABC
Thinking in their respective churches and need to continue to be coached for them to
transform Nacala and the rest of Northern Mozambique. In fact, the two pastors and I
agreed that it was imperative for us to nationalize the Insight Seminars to transform Mo-
zambique. They invited us to hold a number of seminars in Nacala and I am always com-
municating with them.
Yesterday a pastors from Macate whom I taught “how to think” said he partici-
pated in so many seminars but ABC Thinking is exceptional. He said since he attended the
ABC Thinking his life has changed and he is transforming his community. He brought me
a live chicken, some fruit and a bag of charcoal to thank me for teaching and motivating
him to praise the Lord with all his heart and diligently work the land for his survival. He
invited me to visit his community to see the fruits of
the ABC Thinking. I told him that our ultimate goal
as IRI is to see every Mozambican able to feed him-
self, have shelter, be able to speak freely without
fear that someone will knock on the door in the
middle of the night, for peace to prevail on Mozam-
bican soil and always praise the Lord all the time.
In the picture at right, the white lady is
Dutch from the Netherlands. She came to the IRI
office with a friend of mine (Fungai) to show me a
vehicle she is selling. I invited them into the office
as they were interested in knowing what we do as
an organization. I wasted no time articulating on what we do. She could not believe what
she was hearing about ABC Thinking. She said that she graduated from university but she
has never heard such teaching. From that day we became friends. She sends Fungai, who
works with her, for coaching. On the far right are mother and son. They are artists who I
am teaching ABC Thinking. As I am writing, they are here working on a present for mem-
bers of the ruling party of Manica province who will offer it to the President of Mozam-
bique who is about to leave office. This morning, the office here is flooded with important
people from the ruling party who have come to appreciate and take their gift to Maputo.
Africa (and the world) needs the Insight tools to develop organized thinking. Af-
rica needs to think straight for its transformation. Don’t be fatalistic, don’t be stuck and
don’t think it cannot begin with you. You are born again, new things are possible. You can
build ABC Thinking (Biblical Thinking) in your life, your children's lives, your commu-
nity, nation and the world. Let it start with you.
