As per the Ordinance on Industrial Health & Safety (BetrSichV), powder coating systems are among the systems which require obligatory inspection. They are required to be inspected by a qualified person before the first use and at least every three years thereafter.
The inspection is broken down into two subdivisions. Firstly the ordinance inspection, as part of which the technical documents and safety information are che-cked, and secondly the technical inspection. For this,
technical safety aspects are checked.

Ordinance Inspection
In the first part of the safety inspection the following documents will be checked:
Explosion protection document
Explosion zone plan
Operating instructions
Circuit diagrams
Test certificates
Warning signs in place
Powder safety data sheet
Proof of cleaning, maintenance and
servicing procedures
Technical Inspection
The technical inspection begins with a visual check. As well as this a close and detailed inspection will also be carried out. Safe functioning of the following compo-nents will be checked:
Devices (electrical & mechanical)
Protective systems
Safety, checking and control mechanisms
Technical ventilation
Gun technology
Powder circulation
Potential equalization
Recording
After a successful inspection we issue you with the inspec-tion protocol. Should anything be lacking during the inspection, you will receive a detailed report. The indicated shortcomings must be rectified as soon as possible. We will happily help you out in this regard.
If all shortcomings are rectified, you will receive an ex-tensive inspection protocol. In addition you will receive information regarding explosion protection and an employee instruction sheet.
General Advice
Booths and applications must be clean and available to use at the time of the inspection. The conveyor should be relieved in the booth area. Ideally all documentation for the Ordinance Inspection should be pre-pared, with any missing documents completed beforehand or arranged with us as the case may be. The in-spection will be carried out by Jürgen Kögel, Erik Stein or Udo Schneider – the qualified parties according to TRBS 1203 part 1.
