I. Outline of Installation Procedures for bizhub C450 System
When installing the machine and associated options as a system, follow the order shown on the upper.Note:
• For the detailed installation procedures for each option, follow the instructions given in the correspondingInstallation Manual and perform the procedures correctly.
• Once the Power Switch is turned ON, do not turn OFF it until the installation work has been completed.• Make available collective manpower of an appropriate size for transporting the machine. (Machine mass:

III. Pre-installation Check Items1. Select a level and stable place for installing the
machine.2. Be sure to use a power source of the voltage and
frequency indicated in the product specifications.Ensure that the current carrying capacity of thepower outlet is at least equal to the current listedin the product specifications.
3. Power the machine directly from a dedicatedpower outlet. (Do not use an extension cord.)
4. Do not plug or unplug the power cord with wet ordirty hands, otherwise you may get an electricshock.
5. Avoid a hot and humid environment, or a placeexposed to direct sunlight.
6. Avoid a dusty location, or a place near volatileand flammable substances.
7. Avoid a poorly ventilated place.

V. Removing the Machine1. Open the shipping carton and remove the IU car-
ton and machine carton.2. Pull out the handles.
3. Holding onto the portions shown in the illustra-tion, remove the machine while maintaining alevel position.
Note:Machine mass: 111 kg/254 lbMake available collective manpower of an appro-priate size for transporting the machine.Install the Drawer Cover furnished with themachine first before attaching the machine toPaper Feed Cabinet.(two screws furnished with the machine)
VI. Removing Protective Tape, Packingand Other Shipping Materials1. Remove protective tape from different parts of the
machine.
2. Remove the packing bracket.

3. Remove the protective sheet.
4. Slide out the 1st drawer and remove protectivetape and packing materials from the inside of thedrawer.
5. Slide out the 2nd drawer and remove protectivetape from the inside of the drawer.
VII. Installing the IU1. Open the front door.2. Pinch the IU release lever for Y and pull it down
forward.
3. Tilt the IU to the left and, in that condition, shakeit over a small stroke twice. Then, tilt the IU to theright and, in that condition, shake it over a smallstroke twice.
Note:When holding the IU, be sure to hold onto the bluelabel portion.

4. Keeping the IU in the level position, insert it allthe way as far as it will go.
Note:When inserting the IU, make sure that the leadingedge of the IU is aligned with the mounting posi-tion label indicated on the machine.Make sure that the IU is inserted all the way intothe machine.
5. Holding the IU (indicated by the arrow in the illus-tration), pull out the PC Drum protective sheet.
Note:Pull out the PC Drum protective sheet halfway,and pull it down slantwise.
6. Push the IU release lever all the way until a clickis heard.
7. Using the same procedure, install all IUs.
VIII. Charging Toner and Installing the FilterNote:
Toner does not come with the machine. Purchasetoner bottles (of different colors) separately avail-able.
1. Open the front door.2. Remove the desiccant. (only the black toner bot-
tle)
3. Holding the toner bottle firmly, shake it well verti-cally and horizontally to agitate toner.
4. Remove the protective tape and the protectivecap.

5. Swing the fixing lever downward.6. Load the toner bottle in position.
(Make sure that the gear is on the rear side.)
7. Swing the fixing lever upward to fix the toner bot-tle in position.
* Make sure that the fixing lever is positively swunginto position.
8. Using the same procedure, install the toner bot-tles for other colors of toner.
9. Take out the filter and install it in position.Note:
The filter is packed in the box of a black toner bot-tle.
IX. Connecting the Power Cord andMounting the Accessories1. Connect the power cord.
2. Remove the screw shown in the illustration.3. Fit the cord clamp furnished with the machine
over the power cord. Then, secure the cordclamp using the screw that has just beenremoved.
Note:This step may not be performed depending on theapplicable marketing area.
4. Plug the power cord into the power outlet.

5. Attach the cap A and B enclosed with themachine.
X. Installing the User’s Guide HolderInstall the user’s guide holder.
XI. Adjusting Touch Panel1. Turn ON the Main Power Switch and Sub Power
Switch.2. Press the accessibility key.
3. Touch “Touch Panel Adj.”4. Using a ballpoint or similar device, lightly touch
the center of the + markers at four places on theTouch Panel.(Any specific marker can be the first one.)
Note:Pressing the touch panel hard may cause dam-age.
* When all the markers at four places have beentouched, the start key turns green and lights upsteadily green.
5. Press the start key.6. Touch “Close.”

XII. Setting Gradation Adjust1. Set that A3 or Ledger paper is loaded in the
drawer.2. Display the Service Mode screen.
(For details of how to display the Service Modescreen, see the service manual.)
3. Select “Imaging Process Adjustment.”
4. Touch “Gradation Adjust.”5. Touch “High Compression Mode” and press the
start key.A test pattern will then be produced on the A3 orLedger paper.
6. Place the test pattern face down on the originalglass.
7. Place about ten sheets of A3 or Ledger paper onthe test pattern placed on the original glass.Lower the cover.
8. Press the start key.The machine will start reading the test pattern.
9. When the machine completes reading the testpattern, the “Gradation Adjust” screen will reap-pear.
10.Repeat steps from 5 through 8 to let the machineread the test pattern three times.
11.Touch “Gradation Mode” and press the start key.A test pattern will then be produced on the A3 orLedger paper.
12.Place the test pattern face down on the originalglass.

13.Place about ten sheets of A3 or Ledger paper onthe test pattern placed on the original glass.Lower the cover.
14.Press the start key.The machine will start reading the test pattern.
15.When the machine completes reading the testpattern, the “Gradation Adjust” screen will reap-pear.
16.Repeat steps from 11 through 14 to let themachine read the test pattern three times.
17.Touch “Resolution Mode” and press the start key.A test pattern will then be produced on the A3 orLedger paper.
18.Place the test pattern face down on the originalglass.
19.Place about ten sheets of A3 or Ledger paper onthe test pattern placed on the original glass.Lower the cover.
20.Press the start key.The machine will start reading the test pattern.
21.When the machine completes reading the testpattern, the “Gradation Adjust” screen will reap-pear.
22.Repeat steps from 17 through 20 to let themachine read the test pattern three times.
23.Touch “END.”

XIII. Date/Time Setting1. Display the Date & Time Setting screen.
(To display the Date & Time Setting screen, pressStop → 1 → 1 → 4 → 4 → Clear on the ControlPanel.)
2. Press the clear key.3. Enter the data for the year, month, day, and time-
of-day from the 10-key pad.4. Touch “Entry.”Note:
Touching the Entry key returns the figures in theDate & Time Setting screen to 0 and Date & TimeSetting has been completed.
5. Touch “END.”6. Touch “Exit.”
7. Select the Date/Time Setting function as follows:Utility/Counter → Administrator Setting → Enterthe Administrator Password → System Setting →Date/Time Setting.
8. Select the item you want to set and press theclear key.
9. Enter the data for the year, month, day, and time-of-day from the 10-key pad.
10.Touch “OK.”11.Touch “Exit.”
XIV. Install Date
1. Display the Service Mode screen.(For details of how to display the Service Modescreen, see the service manual.)
2. Select the Install Date function as follows:System 1 → Install Date.
3. Press the clear key.4. Enter the data for the year, month, and day from
the 10-key pad.5. Touch “Entry.”Note:
Touching the Entry key returns the figures in theInstall Date screen to 0 and Install Date has beencompleted.
6. Touch “END.”
XV. Serial Number Input
1. Select the Serial Number Input function as fol-lows: System 1 → Serial Number.
2. Making sure that “Printer” is selected on thescreen, enter the serial number of the printerfrom the 10-key pad.
3. Following the same procedure, enter the serialnumbers of all other units.
Note:“Scanner” and “Duplex” do not need to be input.

XVI. Unit ChangeNote:
This function allows the user to select the type ofmessage that will appear when the replacementtime arrives for each of the different units.
1. Select the Unit Change function as follows:System 2 → Unit Change.
2. Select the appropriate message type for eachunit.
3. Touch “END.”
XVII. List Output1. Load the 1st drawer with A4 Lengthwise or Letter
Lengthwise paper.2. Touch “List Output.”
3. Touch the “Machine Management List” and pressthe start key.The list will be output.
4. Output “Adjustments List”, “Service Parameter”,and “Fax Setting List” also by pressing therespective display and pressing the start key.
5. Touch “END.”6. Touch “Exit.”7. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.

6. Select the function to be used as follows:Dup Print Positioning: Side Edge → 3rd.

XX. Check through Test PrintMake operation checks using “Setting InformationPrint.”1. Select the function to be used as follows:
Utility/Counter → User Setting → Printer Setting→ Print Reports.The types of the test prints that can be printedwill be displayed.
2. Touch “Configuration Page.”3. Touch A4 size and press the start key.
Check that the machine produces the corre-sponding printed page.
4. Touch “Close” twice and then “Exit.”
XXI. Connecting Cables1. Using the network cable (category 5), make
cable connections between the network device(HUB) and the machine.
2. Check LEDs for lighting conditions.LED1: Should light up steadily if the link network con-nection has been made.LED2: Should blink according to the communicationsstatus of the ACT network.
XXII. Network SettingMake the TCP/IP address setting for the network.Note:
Consult the network administrator for the settingvalue to be entered and make settings asrequired.
1. Select the function to be used as follows:Utility/Counter → Administrator Setting → Enterthe Administrator Password → Network Setting→ TCP/IP Setting.
2. Make the following settings.IP Address: IP address of the controllerSubnet Mask: Subnet mask of the network, towhich the machine is connectedGateway address: IP address of the default gate-way
3. Turn OFF and ON the Main Power Switch.4. Select the function to be used as follows:
Utility/Counter → Administrator Setting → Enterthe Administrator Password → Network Setting→ Detail Setting → PING Confirmation, andmake the operation check of TCP/IP.
