A Study to Evaluate the Effect of Psychotherapeutic Intervention on Level of Stress Confined at Selected Jail of Durg
(Chhattisgarh)
Sagar Masih* P.G. College of Nursing, Hospital Sector, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India
ABSTRACT
Stress is an unconvincing part of human life which in turn produces anxiety. Stress is everywhere in our society. Most often it is associated with the negative situation as it may produce just as much as the negative stressor. Stress is a complex phenomenon with a very subjective experience. Stress and stressors are different for each person therefore it is important that the patient with the stress produces for that person. What is a challenge for one person will be a stressor for another. It depends largely on background experiences, temperament and environmental condition. The inability to cope efficiently with anxiety and negative emotions may lead to various physical and psychological problems. Jail is a place decided and proclaimed in that capacity by the law of the nation and made to guarantee limitation and authority of people, blamed or indicted for abusing the criminal law. So, the aim of present study was, to identify the level of stress between prison inmates and to evaluate the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic intervention in reducing stress among jail inmates. Keywords: anxiety, jail, stress INTRODUCTION Stress is an incredible part of human life which in turn produces anxiety. Stress is everywhere in our society. Most often it is associated with the negative situation as it may produce just as much as the negative stressor. Stress is a complex phenomenon. It is a very subjective experience. Stress and stressors are different for each person therefore it is important that the patient with the stress produces for that person. Jail is a spot decided and proclaimed in that capacity by the law of the country and made to guarantee limitation and authority of people, blamed or indicted for abusing the criminal law. The aims of modern prison system anywhere in the world are protection of society, retribution, deterrence, reformation and rehabilitation
of the convicted prisoners. As per the Indian Penal Code, imprisonment is sentenced for the violation of rules and regulation, uses isolation as a method of punishment.[1–5] Bartol and Bartol (2004) said that the stresses beyond the bars include detachment from their family members, crowded sensory distress, exposure to a high-density of hard-core offenders and a variety of apprehension, fear, and frustrations. The period of trial is of great stress to the individual. Dropping of social status, apprehension of outcome of the trial, fear of penalty, staying in an unusual place like police station or jail and the financial upsets harass the individual.

Keywords: coping skills, psychoeducation, stress INTRODUCTION Ageing is a phase of life and a biological processes which cannot be postponed indefinitely the people who lived past sixty years of age are commonly known as aged or elderly. They are also considered as persons in the “third age”. Old age is the closing period of life span. Each grey hair can be considered as the reservoir of knowledge and experience. The urge to live, the fear of death, the desire for youth, distaste for old age and
quest for rejuvenation have always interested mankind. Ageing which is an inescapable reality of the human existence on the planet earth, plays a crucial role in the global demographic transition. The world's elderly population is 650 million. By 2050, the "grieving" population is forecast to reach 2 billion. By 2050 about 80% of the elderly will be living in developing countries.

Implementation of the Functional Emotive Existential Therapy for the Caregivers and People with Alzheimer’s Disease Related
Dementia Arnel Banaga Salgado*
RAK College of Nursing, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE
ABSTRACT
The care of the dementia clients often takes negative tool to all the caregivers. Most of the time, they are affective, psychologically emotionally and spiritually leading to loss of meaning, most of the time severe depression bordering into psychopathological condition such as mood disorder and sometimes schizophrenia. The institute that was founded by Dr. Arnel Banaga Salgado implemented its psychosocial intervention called Functional Emotive Existential Therapy in two stages: (a) For the Caregiver, and (b) for the AD clients with dementia. The three main tasks of therapy are the following (Bugental, 1990): (a) to assist clients in recognizing that they are not fully present in the therapy process itself; (b) to support clients in confronting the anxieties that they have so long sought to avoid; and (c) to help client redefine themselves and their world in ways that foster greater genuineness of contact with life. The clients with dementia are otherwise responsive to the following phases of the program, (a) Functionality assessment and therapy, (b) Existential assessment and therapy, and (c) Emotional assessment and therapy. The results both for the caregivers and the clients are promising. After 30 days of implementing the FEET’s ABCDE modalities to the caregivers and to the patients with Alzheimer’s’ disease related dementia of various stages using GDS and MMSE, the caregivers showed positive signs of improvement particularly in terms of meaning development, diminishing the occurrence of depression, anxiety and other psychopathologic conditions arising from the care of their relatives with dementia. On the other hand, in terms of helping the client with dementia, the FEET therapy showed a positive improvement on the decrease of BPSD, increasing functionality, simple memory and finding meaning on their activities of daily living. The FEET should be implemented in other areas, including hospice care, assisted living or nursing homes. Keywords: caregivers, dementia, emotional INTRODUCTION The Functional Emotive Existential therapy was developed to help individuals gain positive perspective in life during and several years after the encounter. It is specifically designed to health workers like nurses, doctors, medical assistants and caregivers who are often overlooked in the health care delivery system. The proponent of the therapy set two perspectives to cater the needs of the caregivers who care for the dementia clients with Alzheimer’s disease and the patients themselves. The
psychosocial therapy which is called Functional Emotive Existential therapy (FEET) was conceived after the validation and standardization of the Personal Meaning Scale Inventory (2005) developed by Dr. Arnel Banaga Salgado. The care of the dementia clients often takes negative tool to all the caregivers.

ABSTRACT
Migraine is one of the common causes of headache which involves recurrent attacks of moderate to severe pain and often strikes one side of the head. A number of intrinsic or extrinsic factors can trigger migraine attack like stress, lack of sleep, changes in weather, fatigue, food and beverages, skipping of meals and menstruation. The knowledge about migraine and its triggers is important for proper management of the patients. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding migraine among patients, and to determine the association between knowledge and selected baseline variables. Descriptive design was selected for this study. A sample of 200 patients with migraine attending the Neurology outpatient department of St. Johns medical college Bangalore was taken using purposive sampling technique. A structured questionnaire used to assess the knowledge of patients regarding migraine. The result shows that only 1.5% of the patients had adequate knowledge about migraine. The findings also denoted a significant association between knowledge with selected baseline variables like gender, occupation, education and monthly income at p<0.05 level. Keywords: knowledge, migraine, triggering factors INTRODUCTION There is hardly anyone in this world that has never experienced headache at least once in a lifetime. Headache is one of the commonest medical complaints and accounts for approximately 25% of a general neurologist’s outpatient service. Headache mainly divided into two types i.e., primary and secondary headache. A primary headache is the one without any identified organic causes. Whereas secondary headache is associated with organic cause such as brain tumors, aneurysms, stoke meningitis.[1] The disorders that present to the clinician with headache, migraine is commonest and the most burdensome.[2]
Headache is one of the commonest medical complaints and accounts for approximately 25% of a general neurologist’s outpatient practice. Of all the disorders that present to the clinician with headache, migraine is commonest and also the most burdensome.[3]
Migraine is more common and disabling; it is a significant public health problem impacting individual sufferers, families and society. Quantifying the burden of migraine is a prelude to measuring the benefits of treatment and planning health care interventions designed to minimize the burden of illness.[4,5] During clinical experience at neurology OPD, SJMCH, the investigator observed that many patients
