In a changing world these devices keep us running!
The Devices
• There are three general internet devices:
1.Cell Phones
2. PDA’s
3.Laptops
The Cell Phone-Definition
• The cell phone (also known as the wireless or mobile phone) is a short ranged, portable, electronic device used for calling friends/family and accessing the internet.

The Cell Phone -Functions
• The cell phone was originally launched around the 1980’s
• The functions on these cell phones were very limited, basically to make and receive calls
• Nowadays a mediocre cell phone has text messaging capability, a media file (w/ music, video, sounds etc.), a built-in camera, bluetooth/ infared, games/entertainment, and wireless internet capability.
• Therefore children are terribly addicted to these sleek internet devices regardless of the downside effect it has on their health.

The Cell Phone -Health Effects
• Cell phones use radio frequencies.
• High RF’s emitted from a cell phone is said to be able to cause brain tumors leading to death.
• Many disagree with this claim but I agree completely agree.

The Cell Phone-Manufacturers
• The main manufacturers of cell phones are Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and Samsung.
• All have their own unique features.• Nokia has always been on top of the competitors
in the cell phone business followed by Motorola, then Samsung and finally Sony Ericsson.
• Motorola has always gone for a sleek look while Nokia has kept their phones consistently durable and well wired.
The Cell Phone- Internet device
• Cell phones connect to the internet generally through a micro antenna that receives a feed from the internet provider.
• Some advanced cell phones connect via Wi-Fi through a router but that’s mostly with PDA’s.
• Wi-Fi means Wireless Fidelity.

PDA-Functions
•Usually PDA’s have a touch screen for inputting commands and information, a memory card, and some form of wireless capability (like Bluetooth and or Wi-Fi). •Other features include that of a cell phone. PDA’s are unique to cell phones in the way that they are able to handle and run software such as Microsoft Office

PDA-Manufacturers
• In recent years the PDA has declined in popularity.
• The main manufacturers include PALM in first
Compaq in second and In third is Toshiba.
PDA’s -Internet Device
• These handy little computers are able to hook up to the internet through a micro antenna (like the cell phone) but works very well (unlike a cell phone in some instances).
• Another internet enabled tool on PDAs are GPS (Global Positioning System).
• PDAs use Wi-Fi.
Laptops-Definition
• A small portable computer. Laptops are generally lighter and smaller than desktop computers.
• Laptops depend on a charged battery when using in the field.

Laptop -features
• Basically a laptop is used as a portable desktop computer, with all the features of a desktop computer.
• Some of these include built-in software, many external ports, amazing amounts of RAM memory (up to 4 GB commercially), LCD backlight, Lithium ion rechargeable battery, and touch pad for mouse.
Laptop-Manufacturers
• The most popular laptop manufacturers out today are Dell, HP, Gateway, and Mac.
• Mac is by far the most expensive laptop.• HP makes a well-wired, durable, attractive
laptop but is a bit expensive.• Dell is very well known, they make good
computers and are reasonably priced.• Gateway has lost popularity recently,
good price. Just a mediocre system.
Laptop -Internet Devices
• Laptops are the perfect example of wireless capability.• Laptops have wireless cards built-in that are able to
receive an internet feed.• Laptops can also hook up to the internet through an
Ethernet cord plugged into the back of the computer• You can also purchase a wireless adapter card that plugs
into the side of the laptop enabling high speed internet.
