HISTORYOFPAKISTAN
The British ruled the Indian subcontinent for
nearly 200 years-from 1756 to 1947
In 1940 the Muslim League a political party
of India formally endorsed the partitioning of
British India and the creation of Pakistan asa separate.
An Independent Islamic state called Islamic
republic of Pakistan came into existence in
August 14,1947
Previously the country consisted of two
provinces namely East and West Pakistan.
After the separation East Pakistan, West
Pakistan was divided into four provinces
namely Sindh, Balochistan, KPK and Punjab.

GEOGRAPHICALLOCATION
The country is located in themountainous region adjoiningCentral Asia and the MiddleEast.
It has a 1,046 kilometercoastline along the ArabianSea and Gulf of Oman in thesouth, and is bordered by

west, the Republic of India inthe east and the People'sRepublic of China in the farnortheast

Pakistan politics has takenplace in the framework of afederal republic
system of government has at
times been parliamentary,presidential, or semi-presidential.
In the current semi-presidential system, the President
of Pakistan is the head of state, the Prime Minister ishead of government, and there is a multi-party system.Executive power is exercised by the government.Legislative power is largely vested in the Parliament.

ECONOMY
It is the 26th largest economy in theworld in terms of purchasing power,and the 47th largest in absolutedollar terms.
Pakistan's economy mainlyencompasses textiles, chemicals,food processing, agriculture andother industries.
The economy has suffered in the past from decades of internalpolitical disputes, a fast growing population, mixed levels of
foreign investment, and a costly, ongoing confrontation with
neighboring India.

AGRICULTURE
The most important crops are wheat, sugarcane, cotton,
and rice, which together account for more than 75% of
the value of total crop output.
Pakistan's economy remains widely
dependant on agriculture

the service sector accounts for 53%

to bear arms.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, is an independent, non-profit
organization, founded in 1987, which is not associated or affiliated with the
government or any political party
