The June Ladies' Luncheon was held at the 1899 restaurant on Butler Avenue on Tuesday, June 14th. Fifteen of
us celebrated Sallie Page's birthday! We were told that there was another large group gathered on the patio and that
was why it took over an hour for our meals to be served. The food was delicious (for the most part) once it got there
and we had a good time visiting in a pleasant atmosphere. Sallie got a complimentary cheese cake for her birthday
and shared it with the die-hards who stayed to the very end! Those present were: Ed & Kennedy Torel, Donna
Viehdeffer, Pat Wiebe, LuAnn Hunt, Jann Blankenship, Sallie Page, Binnie Zink, Jackie Clark, Alana Velez, Joyce
Merritt, Shirley Rohr, Judy Bischoff, Candy Howard and Kathy McKee.

RUMBLINGS FROM AROUND THE FLYWHEEL
Our Club Picnic is coming this Sunday July 17 at Fort Tuthill—Maricopa Ramada (same place where we
always have it). Starts at 11:00; Randy’s Famous Ribs will be served at 12:00 sharp, so come early and bring a pot luck side. Hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, condiments, plates, etc are on the house. (Hopefully someone will bring dessert. )
We had ten cars in the Parks 4th of July Parade ( and no rain!!). Coverage of this event will be in the next
newsletter.
On Sunday, July 24th from 9am to 1pm the Highland Rods ‘n’ Rides are having a Charity car show: “ “Cars
For A Cause”. All proceeds are going to support Williams Food Bank. This is a very worthwhile event and
our attendance will promote inter-club relationships. Please plan to attend.
Attention all Board Members, there will be an Aug 3 Board meeting with potentially a special appearance by
Flagstaff City council persons. Don’t miss this one. Non-board members are also invited.
It has been rumored that the Farmer’s Market Car Show being held on Sunday July 31 will be the last one.

BABBITT ALL FORD CAR SHOW
This was the 3rd show put on by Babbitt Ford, all of which have coincided with the 4th of July weekend.
Each show has grown bigger and pulled in more cars and spectators. Approximately 110 cars were entered
this year. Babbitt Ford and Russ Furstnow did a good job with the organization of the show which featured
“Ford Powered” vehicles, including trucks and tractors. Our club had 14 rides in the show and had three
award winners. Vern Phannenstiel won Best Bronco, Lance Mckee won Best Mercury, and Jon Wiedenheft
won Best Antique. The weather was perfect and the free hot dogs and cold drinks were well appreciated.
All and all this was a good show, and if you are a Mustang fan you’d have been in heaven here!

4TH OF JULY FLAGSTAFF PARADE
So what can be said about the 2016 Flagstaff 4th of July Parade? The weather could not have been better,
our thirteen club cars were decorated spectacularly, the crowds were enthusiastic, and we had no break-
downs! Ed Wiebe’s Sponge Bob Special was, as always , a crowd pleaser as was Jon & Cindy
Wiedenheft’s Panda Bear. Randy Travis and Bonnie let his ‘50’s Cadilac roar, and every time Lance
McKee rev’d up his Cougar the crowd went wild with approval. Jann Blankenship and Candy Howard
enjoyed the ride with Sallie Page. Decorating the cars was half the fun; hearing the parade spectators
especially the kids was the other half..
