WHY ATTEND

MPR’s annual conference is an opportunity for our members to become more educated and familiar with the programs and services MPR provides. This year’s conference is the place for professionals responsible for their entities and entity departments - decision makers, administrators, technology users, law enforcement, such as:

The agenda for this year’s conference is designed with all attendees in mind. Check out these great reasons to attend:

• Gain insight: Who is MPR? This is a once-a-year chance to connect with MPR staff, board of directors, partners, and peers.• Build knowledge and skills: With the large variety of topics offered at this year’s conference, there is opportunity for everyone. We are certain that you will leave with more understanding of the provided topics than what you came with!• Stay current: Whether this is your first time or 5th time to our conference or you’re a seasoned pro, we guarantee that there has been change, and that there is something new at MPR that we can’t wait to share.• Make connections: Throughout the conference there will be many opportunities for you to network with your peers, partners and speakers: Meals provided by MPR, Partner Meet & Greet, Latté/Ice cream social breaks, and the happy hour provided on Friday evening.

MIDWEST PUBLIC RISK 2015You’re Invited! The Fall Conference with MPR is more than an opportunity to escape the office for a weekend. This year we hope to encourage you to connect directly with MPR staff, partners and fellow members in a unique way through a variety of special event and sessions.

This year’s conference, ENGAGE: Keeping your workforce healthy, happy and safe, will give you the tools and help you generate new ideas while on your way to becoming a better leader – regardless of what position you hold in the office.

We have invited Mary Kelly, PhD, a nationally recognized leadership and communications speaker to join us Friday morning as she talks about her experience as a commander in the U.S. Navy and trainer at the Naval Academy. Her unique take on leadership blended with humor will inspire you to look at your own leadership style and discover new ways to engage your staff.

This year’s conference will also offer a unique set of breakout sessions where we will cover topics that are familiar to many human resources officers, but will be presented with a unique twist. Lynne Bratcher, a plaintiff’s attorney from Kansas City, will offer her perspective on what cities and other public entities do to make things go from bad to worse when it comes to employment lawsuits.

We have also invited attorney Johnny Wang from St. Louis to introduce our members to several best practices when it comes to conducting internal HR investigations in a small city. A tall order when your staff is few and resources are thin.

MPR invites you to also join us Thursday night following dinner for a unique event that will introduce you to our many partners that help us deliver the world class customer service our members expect. This fun, informal event, Partner Speed Dating, is your opportunity to have fun, win prizes and learn a little bit more about how MPR operates.

This is just a small sample of what we have on tap in Branson, Missouri, this fall. We invite you to join us and look forward to seeing your there.
