Motivation Letter
Dear IFMSA friends & dearest EMRians,
The Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) the region were I grew in, where I
found my shelter at all times and where I met the most amazing people in the
world and IFMSA, the region where you will find love, help and support from
every one at all times and in all situations, the region of love I call it and this my
dear friends is the region I’m ready to dedicate and work hard for to achieve
greatness and go further into building a society of thinking doctors who are going
to benefit the region in all ways and in all times.
Khalid Al Hamadani is my name and Oman is where I come from. A country that
taught its own people and everyone who lived in it, how to develop fast with
planned steps to get results that no one could ever imagine is achievable. It is with
this way of thinking I would greatly like to lead and serve the EMR region and
IFMSA.
IX
I’m accused by everyone who worked with me along the past few years in IFMSA
of being obsessed with IFMSA and its work and with my love to the EMR region
and this is an accusation I hold dearly in my heart and I’m very proud of.
It has always been my dream and wish to do something great & unique to IFMSA
in general and the EMR region in specific, something that would never be
forgotten through IFMSA and the EMR history. That is why it is with great
pleasure, enthusiasm and full support of my University (Sultan Qaboos University)
and NMO members; you find my candidature for the position of the Regional
Coordinator (RC) of the EMR region. A position I’m sure that I would be able to
handle and lead the EMR region to great success and achievements.
EMRians the future is now in our hands and together we can make it a bright
future, filled with happiness, fun and success.
With great love and affection, I wish the best for all of you.
Sincerely,
Khalid Al Hamadani

Plan of Action
I have always been looking at this region as the paradise that was created in the
earth to match the paradise of hereafter life. It is a heaven that god has bestowed
upon it the beauty, the magnificence , the great nature and much more value than
that its great, lovely people of my region who are full of energy, full of sympathy
to weak people, full of empathy, It is the eastern Mediterranean region ( EMR ).
Dearest friends of IFMSA and dearest EMRians,
With great passion and strong motivation, I relay to you my preliminary plan of
action that aims to implement new thoughts, create innovative ideas and present to
you a future filled with legendary actions. However, if I’m elected to take the lead
in the EMR then I swear an oath to utilize every single fraction of a second to
brighten the region and to enlighten the EMRians to take the best steps to approach
the perfectness and greatness.
The Plan of action below is in the form of points each explained to try to make it
clear what I’m thinking of for the EMR region. However, as said before this is the
preliminary plan of action and if elected we will have to sit together all of us in the
EMR to make a very detailed one with a time line to assess our progress and to
make sure we achieve our goals. It is with your ideas and mine we can make this
region be called the region of creativity and success.
XI
1-EMR Dream Team
My first task to be done is to complete the EMR regional team within one month of being elected. And
together as a team we will take the EMR region to a new era of achievements.
As you can see from the graph above I added Marketing team and EMR alumni, and these two points I
will discuss in the plan of action as you will see below
XII
2-EMR Marketing Team
We are a region of new and brilliant ideas, ideas if implemented it will benefit us as individuals and it will
benefit the communities we live in and eventually the EMR region and it's relevant NMO's. However,
these great ideas are usually stopped by many obstacles but the main one is MONEY!!
So I'm going to form a marketing team as part of the regional team and appoint someone to handle it.
This will bring money and make it easy for us to make our dreams and ideas come true. The way how
this money can be used can be discussed among the EMR region. But some ideas of how we can use it
fairly for the best of the EMR region are:
Establish EMR project Grant, and choose the best three EMR projects and support them by
money to achieve their goals.
Establish EMR Travel Assistant Fund (TAF) and help our own EMRians attend the different IFMSA
meetings.
3-EMR Alumni
We all will reach the time when our time in IFMSA is over, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't take part of
IFMSA anymore. In the contrary, we all can become alumni of IFMSA helping all the new IFMSA
members to achieve the goals of the federation learning from our experience.
Alumni in the EMR can be of great help offering their advices in the different issues and situations that
we face in our own NMO's and region, coming from the same region their experience will be of great
importance.
So I'm planning to encourage our entire region NMO's to start the alumni in their NMO's, and make a
database of EMR alumni to get their help once we need them.
The alumni can also contribute to the marketing team, by offering grants of their own or even use their
own relationships to help the team get enough money for the activities of the region.
4-Recruitment of new NMO's in the region
As I begin my term I will work very hard to increase the number of NMO's in the region and widen the
spectrum of IFMSA in our beautiful region. Looking at the Map we still have some Countries missing and
with the regional team and help from you NMO's we will have more countries in the EMR represented in
IFMSA. The countries not yet represented are:
XIII
Yemen
Qatar
Syria
Morocco
They are colored red in the Map below.
5-EMR NMO's National Meetings agenda
We as EMR region meet three times a year, in Two GA's and in the EMR meeting. This is not enough. We
need to meet more and we need to communicate more to learn from each other. Some of the EMR
NMO's organize amazing National Meetings. We can make an agenda for such meetings to make it easy
for everyone to know about it. And after approval of these NMO's, externals from the EMR region from
other NMO's can attend these meetings increasing the interaction between the NMO's in the region and
learn from each other. So I'm also planning to make this agenda which will be great for our region if
done.
Also there are many other conferences that take place in the EMR region which are not IFMSA related,
I’m planning with your help to organize an agenda for such conferences to have a wide option of
international participation and most importantly try to have active participation as IFMSA in such
conferences to spread the spirit of IFMSA all over the region to everyone as much as possible.
XIV
6-EMR TNT's\TOT's
We as a region lack enough trainers within our NMO's. So I'm planning to encourage the EMR region
NMO's and cooperate with the Training director, to organize some TNT's and TOT's. This will be of great
impact on our region, since having trainers will make our region stronger in IFMSA and in its national
work which is much more important.
I will contact the NMO's individually in the EMR to try make this happen. I'm also planning to make the
regional meeting contain a TNT because it is a great chance to organize one in a regional meeting. Also I
will try to encourage NMO's organizing National GA's to organize a TNT along with it.
7-EMR Publications
This year we had one EMR publication and it was amazing, and now we are waiting for the second one.
The work done this year for the publications was great and awesome, however this work was given its
chance to glow and show what the EMR region is capable of. So Along with the publications
development assistant I would like to maintain having two newsletters every year to represent the EMR
region and to make sure it is well distributed all over the NMO's in IFMSA, within the EMR NMO's itself
among the members and to everyone even if they are not medical students to know what medical
students in the EMR are achieving. This will make our publication be stronger and very i mportant and
will encourage for more amazing work within the region.
Also with the publication DA I would encourage the NMO's to share their publications if they have any
and to encourage the rest of the NMO's to start making their own publication to have a compile of
beautiful publications that will just make the EMR region show what magic it contains.
XV
8-EMR Day!!
Well we are an amazing region with amazing people, and this amazing region with its people needs its
own day. The EMR DAY!!
A day of EMR creativity where events with the same theme can be held all over the EMR region in the
same day. It will be both fun and beneficial for our region. Increasing communication and giving a
chance for our projects to glow and shine together.
This day can be the day where the first NMO in EMR entered IFMSA or when the EMR region was
created within IFMSA.
9-EMR Regional meeting
Continue the work of the previous RC supervising the work of the organizing committee of EMR
8 and have a great EMR.
Also encourage other NMO's to be the host of EMR 9 and make sure there is someone to host it.
Try to improve the EMR meeting to be more beneficial for the NMO's e.g Add TNT to it, choose
a timing in which most of the EMR region NMO's are able to attend and fix it to be the same
timing every year,..etc. Will also cooperate with all the NMO's in the EMR region and all
members to hear their ideas to improve our regional meeting.
10-EMR NMO's Development
Along with the regional team I will try to help the current NMO's in the region grow stronger and
develop more to be better. I'm planning to do that by:
Establishing the committees that still doesn't exist in some NMO's and see what are the reasons
that stops them from starting them and try to find solutions for it. In order to have all the
committees in all the NMO's in the region working effectively and make the current ones which
is already working even stronger.
Target the issue of not obtaining voting rights in the GA's because of inability to pay the IFMSA
fees for any reasons. This is to be discussed with the NMO's and try to get a solution for it, in
order to have a saying in the GA's and to be a strong region.
Target the issue of low participation in both the GA's and the EMR from different EMR NMO's
and see what are the reasons behind it and also try to find solutions to this problem in order to
benefit as much as possible from these meetings as a region and to be represented by a huge
number showing the strength and motivation of the EMR region.
XVI
Increase EMR NMO's participation in different IFMSA events and work, by encouraging the
NMO's and investigate what are the reasons that make the EMR NMO's don't take participation
in such events and work. e.g external meetings, policy statements, projects to be recognized by
IFMSA as endorsed, transnational,…etc.
With this plan of action and ideas I would like to lead the EMR region into a different era of success and
achievements. And this will only be the beginning because I'm sure this plan of action can modified by
your comments and participation to be better and to be as I mentioned before more specific with a time
line in order to assess our progress in it as a team. I also hope that this plan of action fixes some of the
issues like communication between the EMR NMO's and more participation since it will make everyone
busy and enthusiastic to work for it.
Yours sincerely,
Khalid Al Hamadani
