Klaipeda shipping school was
established in 1962.
50 years ago only 50 students had
an opportunity to choose among
the following specialities:
• Welder
• Locksmith
• Ship hull assembler
KLAIPĖDA SHIPPING SCHOOL
Today it’s the only vocational school in Lithuania which provides young people with the secondary and maritime education and training. Alongside traditional academic subjects our school offers a wide range of marine and offshore training programmes. In other words it provides all the skills and knowledge needed to have a wide variety of career opportunities both at sea and ashore.

To operate deck machinery while mooring and anchoring

To understand and execute all wheel, anchoring, mooring and towing orders in English
ABLE SEAMAN COMPETENCIES INCLUDE
SEAMAN – COOK COMPETENCIESINCLUDE
To stand a watch as helmsman and lookout
To use emergency, lifesaving and safety equipment
To use any rigging, signaling equipment
To operate deck machinery while mooring and anchoring
To operate cargo gear
To understand and execute all wheel, anchoring, mooring
and towing orders in English
To prepare the raw materials
To make hot and cols dishes, desserts and beverages
SEAMAN – WELDER COMPETENCIES INCLUDE
To stand a watch as helmsman and lookout
To use mergency, lifesaving and safety equipment
To use any rigging, signalig equipment
To operate deck machinery while mooring and anchoring
To operate cargo gear
To understand and execute all wheel, anchoring, mooring and towing orders in English
To prepare metal for welding
To perform welding of horizontal and vertical joints
MOTORMAN – ELECTRICIANCOMPETENCIES INCLUDE
To monitor and maintain energy equipment
and auxiliary engines, machinery
To ensure the repair works of all equipment
To use measuring instruments and to read
drawings
To understand and execute orders in English
PORT LOGISTICS COMPETENCIES INCLUDE
To carry out tally duties
To control incoming and outgoing cargo; to fill in the necessary documents, to route materials, specific orders for shipping.
To use modern information technologies
To know the work of port terminals, types of cargo, its packaging and marking, warehousing services and etc.
