OURHISTORY
EST. 1867
Galloway’s Society for the Blind was established in 1867. Nearly one and a half centuries later the charity has enabled countless thousands of local blind and visually impaired people to live independent and fullfilling lives, but our future depends on people like you.
Today, run by a team of dedicated sta and volunteers Galloway’s serves well over 7000 local people by providing a wide range of practical help, advice and social activities delivered both from our 4 main centres and also via support groups based in local communities. This ensures we are a charity that really is run by local people for local people

GIVING A GIFT BEYONDYOUR TIME A gift in your will could do so much to support the next generation of local blind and visually impaired people. It’s a daily struggle for us every year to raise the £1 million of funds we need to meet our current level of services. There is so much more we would like to do, but this depends on people who have supported us via a bequest in their will.
A legacy or bequest left to Galloway’s is paid free of tax and lowers the tax threshold on the rest of your estate. You can leave us a specific sum or a share of your estate, once you have provided for your loved ones. You can also leave us any item of value such as stocks and shares or antiques. Your gift can be given to benefit a particular service we provide such as our talking newspaper services or the provision of specialist equipment.
EVERY YEAR WE NEED OVERONE MILLION POUNDS TOMAINTAIN OUR SERVICES

WHAT NEXT?In the first instance we stongly recommend you seek the advice of a solicitor about making or changing your will. We can supply you with a list of solicitors in your area, many of which already know and support Galloway’s. When contacting your chosen solicitor please make sure that you clearly state that it is Galloway’s you wish to leave a bequest to. Unfortunatley we have regular experience of missing out on legacies due to ambiguous wording.
