Melt-water rivers from high- elevation glaciers deposited stones (BOSTON BASIN)
PANGEA 425-245 mil yrs ago
Tectonic rifts & collisions buried 400-1,550 ft. stone deposits—deeply—as land masses migrated north.
Cemented into a conglomerate
Heat & pressure cemented these stone deposits
(Called “ROXBURY CONGLOMERATE”)
Pressure created fractures in the conglomerate (through individual stones!!!), which later filled with liquefied quartz

PANGEA 245 mil yrs ago
1. Broken off GONDWANA (about 550 mil yrs ago)
2. Collided with each other in process 3. Welded to LAURENTIA (about 370 mil yrs ago) 4. Been sandwiched into PANGEA (about 245 mil yrs ago)
Then, about 200 mil yrs ago, began to rift apart to create modern continents. ( )

Why are we giving
you a Lucky Stone?
Lucky Stones, ancient and enduring, serve as touchstones, reminding us of our collective commitments to our shared goals on behalf of all children at-risk for reading difficulties.
Like the Lucky Stone, our commitments must endure
over time & persist in all kinds of environments …
… which generate forces and conditions that challenge, shape, sometimes even enhance, our efforts.
Like the Lucky Stone, our individual attributes are remarkable
… but these can intensify when brought together.
To succeed, we must endure but change, stand alone but work collectively.
We also need a bit of luck, which the lucky stone brings to you …

Dorchester too Great lumps of pudding the giants threw …”
