What Is It?
• Free-of-charge application that allows you to manually and automaticallysynchronize controllers’ wall clock time with PC’s time– Automatic synchronization can be scheduled at intervals as fast as every minute
and as slow as one month• Allows for configuration of up to 110 different devices, and up to 3
independent synchronization schedules.• Improved version of tool called Chronos• Requires RSLinx Classic Lite

How Will It Help Me?
• Allows easy and unattended synchronization of devices’ time– Takes care of devices’ clock drift– Need not to worry about daylight saving time or leap year changes
• It increases the effectiveness of time-stamping• Eliminates the need to reset the device’s clock after
maintenance or power cycle• Doesn’t require specialty “synchronization” module in each rack

Accuracy
• Actual accuracy will depend on Controller’s load, network type, network traffic, and may be affected by the Overhead Time Slice
• In the tests we administered…– 99% of readings indicated that the
controller and PC were less than 100ms apart
– 93% of readings indicated that the controller and PC were less than 50ms apart
• Based on these test results, this tool may not be appropriate for Sequence of Events Applications

Supports for Features Planned for V16
• Supports Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) (Formerly known as GMT).
• Sets Time Zone and Daylight Savings Time based on the user’s PC settings
• Requirements– Device to be synchronized and PC must
reside in the same time zone.– Requires V16 or higher Firmware for new
features. Devices with pre-V16 firmware will store the local time, ignoring the time zone and daylight saving time.
• Note: Users should avoid setting the Time Zone or Daylight Savings Time from RSLogix 5000, as any changes will be overwritten during the next synchronization.
