Bolivian Mission Trip
April 22-May 2
This spring, First Methodist will join members of Central UMC in Asheville on a mis-sion trip to The Kory Wawanaca Children’s Home in Bolivia. Kory Wawanaca is lo-cated in the village of Tacachia which is nestled deep within the Andes Mountains, a few hours outside of the capital city of La Paz. The Home opened its doors in 2008 and now provides a loving home for twenty-one amazing children between the ages of four and thirteen. Kory Wawanaca is much more than a home – it’s a family. It’s a place where children regain their childhood and a place where God’s love abounds.
The mission team will help with a current construction project of building an extension home in a nearby village in addition to building relationships with the children and staff. All level of abilities are welcome on this mission experience.
David Greene will be leading the team from First Newton. Cost for the 11 day experience will be approximately $750-$1000. This includes airfare, lodging, meals and donation for construction costs.
On Sunday, February 23, Carrie Blackburn Brown, Founder and Director of Kory Wawanaca, will be speaking in worship to share her story of the genesis of the ministry and how the Home provides a rehabilitative haven where children are healed through agriculture, nature, tranquility, and affection.
If you are interested in being a part of this mission experience, please contact David Greene at [email protected] and visit: www.kwchildren.org.

NEW MEMBER
On Sunday, February 2 we welcomed Matt Isenhour into membership at First Church, Newton. He is the husband of Erica Isenhour and father of Layla and Ma-son. Matt joined by letter of transfer.
NEW ROBE FUND
Our congregation is so fortunate to a have a wonderful choir and dedicated group of acolytes and cross bearers. What would our worship service be like without them? They are so important because they help us focus our hearts and minds on the good news of Jesus Christ every Sunday when we gather for worship.
Now these groups need our help. Because of the age of our existing robes and because of the recent growth in our chancel choir, we are in desperate need of new robes for the chancel choir, acolytes, and cross bearers. Would you prayerfully consider being a part of making this happen? You can do so by making a generous gift to the New Robe Fund. The goal for this project is $6000.00. Your support will demonstrate to everyone who serves in the choir or as an acolyte and cross bearer that they are valued and appre-ciated.
