Introduction
Context-aware learning systems– personalization :
• learner-centered + • environmental factors (e.g. location, time of
the day, delivery media)
• Representation Method: Ontologies• Goal: capturing and usage of
contextual info in context-aware learning environments

Ubiquitous Learning Context?
• Context = situational information– any info to characterize the situation of
an entity relevant to user--application interaction
• Different application domains ~ different needs and requirements different interpretations of
“context”

Ubiquitous Learning Context ?
mobile learning context = learning context captured with regards to its delivery medium, i.e., the mobile devices.
Learning context = learners +LOs + pedagocial approach

Context Capturing
• a LO repository + a context repository each LO in LO repository ~ context data
in m-LOCO based repository of LOC
• How to capture this context-related data?• LO selection from the LO repository by
learners• System intelligently suggests and delivers
LOs to learners gather and store all related contextual data
in LOC Repository.

Usage Scenarios : Q1
• utilize the already available context data in m-LOCO repository
SWEL WORKSHOP@ITS 08
Ontology-based Learning Resource Repositories 20
Usage Scenarios : Q2
• pair a learner during each activity with peers who are directly/indirectly linked to her in her social connections and,– are performing the same activity
(e.g. performance) – in the same subject domain

SWEL WORKSHOP@ITS 08
Ontology-based Learning Resource Repositories 22
Usage Scenarios : Q3
• learner is asking for assistance/help for a specific topic during an activity
• enhancing social collaboration ?• refer the learner to those peers in
her social links– whose level of skill makes them
eligible to temporarily play the role of an assistant
– in that subject domain
