Concrete/wood structures design: our works cover a large range of buildings from residential to office, commercial,industrial buildings.
Special steel structures and Steel Bridges design: aircraft hangars, bridges, shopping malls, stadiums, steel coverings, pavilions, stages, amphitheatres.
Method of statements for the erection of special structures
Tensile Structures conception and design: this field represents our core business with many projects completed all over the world. The possibilities offered by this type of structures are very wide and we can offer to our clients many solutions for one single problem.
Retractable covering design: a retractable roof is an important opportunity to change the aspect of buildings such asstadiums, shopping malls and theaters and give them the possibility to be used also with bad weather conditions or to be opened to the sky in sunny days.
ETFE Cushion design: ETFE cushions are a lightweight alternative to glass roofs or facades. The cushions are pressurized with air to provide structural stability and the layers of ETFE can be coated to provide effective insulating values.
Steel Bridges: Maffeis is focused on the design of steel and composite beam viaducts for both motorways and railways. He has a strong back ground in concept design, preliminary design and final design of steel bridges of all typologies.
Facade, curtains wall and cladding: the building envelope is a key challenge in the architectural and structural design and for the future operation of a building. Highly qualified experts from the Maffeis Engineering Team support architects and clients in bringing their vision to reality. Familiar to the latest glazing and cladding technologies, to environmental and economic issues as well as to the latest construction technologies we are able to support you in your ambitious project in a convenient way.
Renewable energies and Solar Plants: our company is involved with the most important Italian energy companies (ENEL and ENEA) in developing and making high efficiency solar plants in South of Italy.
Buildings renovation: with the continuous consumption of new land it’s becoming gradually more and more importantrenovate old buildings than build new ones. That’s why we decided to develop this type of work, managing several projects on historical buildings.
Preliminary Studies: we can provide a high quality package to clients including, preliminary analysis and preliminarydrawings with render views to help visualize the proposed structure.
Skills and reliability
CFD Analysis and building physics: our company continually improves our structural analysis software. Recentdevelopments include the completion of CFD wind analysis software that replaces the need for wind tunnel testing ofunusually shaped structures. In addition we can offer computerized thermal analysis of building envelope materials.
Software Development: supported by engineers with a world wide experience on civil, industrial and structural issues, the software development office makes software for building 3D surface and open/close environment computational models and develops software applications which allows the drawing of architectural solutions with well balanced structural properties. Our software developers have big experience in Microsoft developing languages (C++, C#, WindowsForm, WPF) and in developing on CAD enviroinment as Autodesk products (we are subscriber of Autodesk Developer Network), Rhinoceros and Google SketchUp.
BIM: building Information Modeling, the BIM is defined as “A Computable representation of physical and functionalcharacteristics of a structure and its information about the expected life cycle using open standards for businessdecision-making aimed at improved profitability. It is a single container of graphical data – drawings – and attributes –technical specifications, features and tabs. It is a graphical data model and attributes related to the entire life cycle of the structure, structured in database form. With BIM it is possible to go towards collaboration between designers, software interoperability, integration between processes and sustainability.
