March 2020
Kansas State Assessments State Assessments are getting ready to begin for our 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students! It is CRITICAL for your child to be at school and on time everyday, ESPECIALLY during state assessments. Specific grade level state assessment schedules will be sent home by your child’s teacher. Please put these dates on your calendars and plan your child’s appointments around these dates. Once a testing session has started your child CANNOT go back in and make it up if checked out early. You will want to be sure your child eats a good breakfast and has an early bed time to ensure they are well rested and able to focus.
Please see below for our upcoming assessment dates. Jefferson 2020 State Assessment Schedule

future laundry parties! Call Ms. Abby if something comes up and you can
no longer attend by the end of the school day! Call 973-3000 to visit with
Ms. Abby.
We would like to thank all of our volunteers Bonnie Bing Honeyman, Lu Blackford, Beatrice Burchill, Rebecca Cast, Nohemy Chavez, Brenda Edington, Michael Everhart, Pamela Everhart, Jada Gehring, Carolyn Kretzer, Alli Larison, Kathy Lefler, Jennifer Lette, Barbara Martin, Fern McGehee, Paige Nelson, Brady Roberts, Kim Shank, Tessa Simpson, Karen Spexarth, Beth Strickler, Debbie Strong, Karen Thompson, Bartley Wilson, and Sally Wilson, and all of our Read To Succeed coaches!
We are inviting anyone who is interested in volunteering at school to please contact the school at 973-3000 and ask for Ms. Abby Martinez.
During the Winter Seasons please remember to send your
child to school in a coat. As temperatures are dropping
students will need coats at recess, as well as hats and
gloves or mittens.
Students are expected to dress appropriately for the weather.
We will not be keeping kids in from recess because parents
want them inside due to cold weather. We abide by the
district’s weather chart when determining if we should go
outside in cold or hot weather. Unless there is a documented
medical reason from a doctor for why a student cannot go
outside for recess, we will be sending them out. Please make
sure your student is dressed appropriately for the
weather and has a coat.
District Exclusion
March 12th is the spring district exclusion day. If you receive a letter please follow-up & turn in your
student’s shot record before March 12th. You will have all of spring break to obtain any missing
immunizations. Students that come back March 23rd without required immunization record will be
sent home that morning. If you have any questions please call.
Clothes Closet
Our clothes closet is out of smaller size pants. If your child came home with different clothes, please wash & return
them. If you have some smaller size pants (girls & boys sizes 5-8) that are in good condition, please consider
donating them to Jefferson.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s health, please call Nurse Chelcie at 973-3013.
2020-21 Pre-Registration for Pre-K If you have a child that will be 4 years old by August 31, 2020, they may be eligible for FREE half-day Pre-K. This year our enrollment will be done online!
