Pastor’s Corner
My Dear Parishioners, Many things are happening this weekend, the first of which I am happy to announce to you is the official launching of our Evangelization Program here at OLA. Upon the advice of our Pastoral Council, a “core group” of individuals have been established to participate in an intense three day weekend of formation so that they can be trained as active evangelists both in our parish and beyond. This weekend, Mr. Michael Dopp comes to us from Ontario, Canada representing RELIT, an international program that seeks to energize small groups of parishioners, training them in unique ways to evangelize and helping them to identify practical areas on a parish level for evangelistic growth. I want to thank all of those who so generously have offered to give of their time to take on this great work in our parish. I would ask you to pray for the continued success of this important part of our renewal plan, “My OLA + My Family of Faith”. As announced last week, this weekend I will speak at all of the Masses as part of a Communication Weekend in preparation for next week’s celebration of Stewardship Sunday. As a reminder, if you are participating in next week’s increased offertory appeal, please bring your special Stewardship envelope to Mass. If you cannot do so next weekend, you may drop it off at any convenient time for you. Immediately following all the Masses this weekend, we will offer refreshments in the Sacred Heart Chapel for fellowship and an opportunity to ask any questions regarding Stewardship Sunday. This Sunday liturgically celebrates Laetare (Rose) Sunday – a Sunday of joy in Lent. It was not too long ago on Gaudete (Rose) Sunday – a Sunday of joy in Advent – that I announced to you our plans for a three year renewal in the areas of Spirituality, Evangelization and Stewardship. It is my hope and prayer that we will only continue to grow stronger in faith and as a family here at OLA. Love and prayers, Fr. Carey
