Support SMEsSME’s might have difficulties to benefit from the cluster :
– having less bandwidth than large companies, – lacking information – suffering from the uncertainty of financing their projects.
The SCS Cluster has established a “mission SME” to listen to the SME’s , to inform them and to insure that it brings them added value.
Some events are organized for the SME’s like :
– Seminars on Intellectual property– Participation to Worldwide event ( 3GSM, Cards ASIA,..)

Support SMEsSCS Cluster policy to foster the participation of SME’s to projects :
– Projects should have at least one SME to be labeled– Visibility of project in creation phase to facilitate SME to join the consortium– Provides support to SME’s in the formalization of their projects– Intervene early on the emergence and creation phase of a new project or in the support
of existing projects to:• Enrich the projects with market data• Comfort the business positioning at a worldwide level• Identify new potential partners or customers • Analyze the existing Intellectual property • Validate the validity of the technological choices• Study the scientific positioning• Identify competition

Education/ TrainingThe Education/ Training capabilities offered in PACA are key to the development of the Cluster and the Region.
The Cluster SCS with its academic members has made the analysis of the current offering of Engineering education in the competences of the Cluster ( Microelectronics, Software, Telecom ).
The industrial members have indicated the need of training for their activities and especially for the projects they are involved in.
The offer/ Demand analysis allowed to :
– Identify some gaps– Influence the content of the academic cursus of some master degrees.– Lead to the creation of masters in some high growth field( ex : in RFID) – Promote continuing education to upgrade the level of competences in some
new fields.

Environment protection projectsSCS Cluster can bring innovative solutions in the protection of the environment and natural risks management.
Two projects to illustrate this :
– Project Real Crisis , co-labeled with PACA Risks Cluster to monitor Tsunami and bring the alert to the responsible public authority.
– Project Fire co-labeled also with the Risks Cluster to develop a sensor network to monitor fire in the area covered, as well as detection of Terpene gas emission for firefighter' safety.
SCS Cluster is also supporting the project of Platform CMER ( Centre Euro-Mediterranéen de l’Environnement et des Risques) driven by the Risks Cluster which intend to make PACA region a key player in developing services based on the European GMES program.
– SCS can in particular bring expertise in Sensor networks and data analysis.
