MasterDegreeinChemicalSciences

TheMasterDegreeinChemicalSciencesaimsatformingchemistswithasolidknowledgeinthefundamentalareasofchemistryandaspecificexpertiseinoneoftheproposedcurricula:-GreenChemistry,-MaterialsChemistry,-Chemistryappliedtoculturalheritage.Students will take 120 credits across two years (120 ECTS, each credit being equivalent to 25hours).TheMasterdegreeculminatesinanextensiveexperimentalthesisthatincludesapracticalresearchwork.AccessrequirementsAn undergraduate Degree in Chemistry (three year course, B.Sc. equivalent) is required foradmission to the Master programme. Other degrees meeting the requirements stated in theRegulationoftheMasterdegreearealsovalid.In particular, students should have a minimum number of ECTS in some scientific sectors(Chemistry,Physics,Mathematics,Informatics,Biology,ChemicalEngineering)withaminimumof60ECTSinChemistry.Acommissionwillverifythepossessionofrequirements.Informationwillbeavailableathttps://uniss.esse3.cineca.it/Home.do.

PositioninaworkplaceGraduatesinChemicalScienceswillfindaccesstoresponsibilitypositionsinthefieldsofindustry,academia, government and entrepreneurship. Specific careers include main roles in chemicalindustries, researchandanalysis laboratories, environmentprotection, cultural heritage, health,energy and materials science, and as professional chemist. Their skills will be: ability to usesophisticated chemical instrumentation; comprehension and evaluation of experimental data;designofnewanalyticalproceduresandchemicalmethods;goodinteractioninmulti-disciplinarycontext.Theywillalsohavecompleteautonomyandcoordinationabilityofresearch/workgroups.

InternationalCourse:TwoyearDoubleDegreeProgramme,SWIMinCHEMAdefinednumberofstudentswillbeselectedto joinaDoubleDegreeprogrammebyfollowingtheinternationalSWIMinCHEMProgramme(Sassari-WroclawInternationalMasterinChemistry),inagreementwiththeUniversityofWroclaw,Poland.TheProgrammerequiresthatstudentswillspendatleastonesemesteratthehostUniversityandleadstotworecognisedMasterdegreecertificates,onefromthestudent’shomeinstitutionandonefromthehostone.Studentswillsimultaneouslygaintwouniversitytitles:oneistheItaliantitle“LaureaMagistraleinScienzeChimiche(classeLM-54)”awardedbytheUniversityofSassari;theotheristhePolishtitle“Chemia–studiamiędzynarodowe”awardedbytheUniversityofWroclaw.AreasforcareeropportunitiesOptionsare,amongothers:-Chemicalandpharmaceuticalindustry;-Basicandappliedresearch;-Analysislaboratories;-ActivityasprofessionalChemist(cat.A);-Environmentalprotection;-Studyandconservationofculturalheritage;-Publichealth;-Fieldsofenergyandmaterialsscience;-Qualityassuranceandcontrol;-Technicalsalesandmarketing;-Forensicscience.
