Keith’s CornerHello August!
Hello again!August is here and hotter days
as well, but it sure seems like thesummer months are going by fast.Summer vacations are coming toan end, and kids all acrossAmerica are heading back toschool, which means parents allover America are celebrating!
The month of August wasoriginally named Sextilis in Latin, because it was the sixth month inthe original ten-month Romancalendar under Romulus in 753BC, when March was the firstmonth of the year. About 700 BCit became the eighth month whenJanuary and February were addedto the year before March by KingNuma Pompilius, who also gave it29 days. Julius Caesar added twodays when he created the Juliancalendar in 45 BC giving it itsmodern length of 31 days. In 8 BCit was renamed in honor ofAugustus, and it has 31 daysbecause Augustus wanted as manydays as Julius Caesar’s month ofJuly had.
As always, thank you for yourcontinued support of BelmontVillage San Jose and our staff, aswe truly appreciate theopportunity to serve you and yourloved one.
Sincerely, Keith Payne
