10th International Conference on Electrical Engineering
ICEENG 2016
PREFACE The Military Technical Collage is pleased to organize the 10th international conference on electrical engineering, which is sponsored by the ministry of defense in the period 19 - 21 April 2016. The main objective of this conference is to bring together scientists, researchers and engineers of Egyptian Armed Forces and their colleagues in academic and industrial institutions. This occasion provides a chance to exchange information in the following designated fields of interest:
1. Circuits and Systems
2. Communication and Radar
3. Computer Engineering
4. Electrical Power Engineering
5. Electromagnetic Waves
6. Guidance and Control
7. Optoelectronics
From (144) abstract submitted to the conference, a number of (104) abstract were accepted for possible submission to the conference, and the rest of abstracts were rejected or not relevant to conference topics. From these (104) abstract, a (99) full manuscript was submitted to the conference rapporteur, were peer reviewed. Just (70) papers have been accepted for suitable presentation in the conference, and (27) papers were rejected. Finally, a No. of (56) paper were delivered for possible presentation in the conference and publication in its proceedings. The selected (56) papers will be presented during the conference interval, from 19 to 21 April 2016 in different (12) scientific sessions. In addition to scientific sessions, the conference activities include different (4) Workshops and Invited Lectures. The list of workshops and invited lectures are classified as:
i

Cairo, Egypt
10th International Conference on Electrical Engineering
ICEENG 2016
1. Collaborative Integrated Projects
2. Green Big Data
3. Large Scale Electrical Networks
4. UWB Antennas and Propagation
An alphabetic index of the authors of the papers is provided at the end of this booklet, which will serve to identify the session in which the paper will be presented. Finally the conference high committee hopes that the conference will achieve its planned mission and would like to acknowledge all contributors, members of the scientific committee and chairmen of the conference session. Hint for authors: Please remember that you have only 15 min. to present the paper and 5 min. for discussion.

WS042 Recent Load Flow methods for Analyzing
Large Scale Electrical Networks Assoc. Prof. Salah Mohamed Kamel
Aswan University
Egypt Abstract: Load flow analysis is one of the most important and fundamental power system analyses. It is used for planning, operation and control of electrical power system. However, Newton-Raphson load flow method that based on power mismatches is considered as the state of the art power flow technique and widely accepted in industry applications. As power system network size increases dramatically with the increasing demand of energy, NR method started to lose ability to converge fast. Where, the main disadvantage of the NR method is the necessity for factorizing and updating the Jacobian matrix during the iterative solution process. Thus, Fast Decoupled load flow method was proposed to speed up the NR method and decreases the required minimum memory storag. Nevertheless, the convergence rate of the decoupled NR is affected with the Ill conditioned case occurs when a system has high ratios of lines R/X. The new NR power flow formulation based on current injections mismatches technique (NR-CIM) was emerged to solve the problem of updating the

Jacobian elements in conventional NR load flow (NR-PM). In this technique, the Jacobian matrix can be updated faster than the Jacobian in conventional NR power flow espacilly in the case of PQ buses. This due to the off-diagonal and the first part of each diagonal element in Jacobian matrix are constant and equal to the corresponding elements of the admittance matrix. Also the technique does not require at all the use of transcendental (sine, cosine) functions after every iteration. The NR current injection mismatch load flow method is more suitable in case of PQ buses. However, in the case of the existence of PV buses, this formulation exhibits low convergence. A revised current injection mismatch load flow (NR-RCIM) has been presented to improve the convergence characteristics of current injection formulation in the case of PV buses. In This revised version, the PV bus is treated as PQ bus with taking the reactive power as an additional state variable. As a result of that, this improvement increases the number of required equations to be three for each PV bus. Consequently, the current injection method becomes not reliable for solving transmission systems which consists on many PV nodes and found wide usage in distribution systems. The speaker has developed a new representation of PV buses in NR revised current injection load flow (NR-RCIM) method to reduce the number of required equations and improve the convergence characteristics at well and ill-conditioned systems. The developed formulation so-called hybrid load flow is based on the combination between two NR techniques. Where, the PQ nodes are represented as NR current injection load flow method and PV nodes are represented using power injection mismatches. In this formulation, the number of equations is identical to that of the conventional Newton-Raphson method (NR-PM). Moreover, the elements corresponding to PQ buses in the Jacobian matrix are constant and equal to admittance elements. The hybrid power/ current load flow program has been tested using Standard IEEE test systems. The new load flow algorithm has been published in high quality journals (JCR). Keywords: Load flow, NR based on power mismatches, NR based on cuurent injection mismatches, NR based on hybrid power/current injection mismatches.

WS049 Recent Challenges for UWB Antennas

Egyptian Armed Forces Egypt Abstract: The increasing development of wireless communication systems occupied the full allowed spectrum leaving no room for new wireless system to evolve. Working around this obstacle, two smart approaches emerged. The first approach is Cognitive Radio, in which the bands are shared with the primary (often licensed) users on a non-interfering basis. This created the term “virtual
unlicensed bands". This approach depended on the fact that although the spectrum is fully allocated but it is not fully used. The second approach is making use of ultra-wide band (UWB). This approach used a very wide bandwidth signals (> 500 MHz) with low power spectral density. As a result UWB signals are under the noise floor of the primary licensed narrowband

users. The two possible techniques for UWB switching antennas for UWB propagation are discussed and different attempts are presented.
