General informations
The rotary piston compressors for vacuumwith pre-inlet and direct atmospheric com-pression, are capable of operating withvacuum pressure differences of up to –800mbar (200 mbar absolute pressure) in a singlestage, working continuously with no thermaloverloads and requiring no additionalmechanical fitting such as valves, regulators, pressure changeover gear, nor cooling system.
Operating principles
A volumetric displacement cycle ends whengas is compressed and the blower compres-sion chamber opens towards the delivery. The system consists in filling with fresh gasthe compression chamber before the pistonhead opens towards the delivery, the freshgas penetrating through the supplementarychannel, eliminating the heat or compressiontemperature at the very moment of its for-mation and expelling by rotation throughthe outlet or delivery.
The cooling gas in a single stage (compressionfrom atmosphere) is taken directly from theatmosphere (fig 1). If necessary to recover orre-compress the pumped gas, the coolinggas must be taken in from a gas coolerarranged in series connection (fig 2).
Technical specifications
The set is manufactured in 8 different sizes, with capacity ranging from 280 to 10 000m3/h. The vacuum pressure differences, depending on the blower speed, can reach upto –800 mbar (200 mbar absolute pressure).
The Roots pumps are of positive displacementtype and as such offer a wide range of pos-sibilities with regards to the intake flowrates, depending on the speed of rotationand the difference in pressure.
The operating performances tables shown inthis catalogue indicates operating guidelineaccording the pulley diameter ratios.Where flow rates and pressure are differentfrom those shown in the table, pleasecontact us.

BOOSTER
Applications
The BOOSTERS have a wide range of applica-tions in the field of vacuum. They are prefe-rably used in combination with a primaryvacuum pump (rotary vane vacuum pumps, etc…) and have a very extensive applicationin the field of low vacuum.
The use of BOOSTERS, forming a group withprimary pumps, being especially recommendedwhere high pumping speeds at low pressureare required.
ATEX version on request
Operating principles
During rotation, a progressively growingspace is created which corresponds to thesuction stage : phase 1 and 2, being graduallydecreased phase 3 and 4, compressing thevolume of gas. This cycle is repeated fourtimes per each complete rotation of thedrive shaft.
Characteristics of RB21.20BPand RB22.20 BP version
The built-in valve of by-pass is an unloadingvalve which allows communication betweeninlet and outlet of the BOOSTER when theacceptable maximum differential pressure isexceeded.A part of the gas flow is then recycled andthe electric motor does not have an overload. The device allows simultaneously the BOOSTERand the primary pump starts-up at theatmospheric pressure and to reduce the timeof pumping. This system puts also the BOOSTER safe fromaccidental gone up of pressure. Those pumpsare provided for a vertical operation.
The BOOSTERS belong to the group of positive displacement delivery pumps. Two symmetrical pistons having en eight feature, housed in thepump body, rotate in opposite directions with no contact neither between each other nor with the pump body, meshing continuously. The pistons are driven by a set of gears with synchronised rotation, which guarantees friction-free movement.

BOOSTER RB typeThe RB pumps are used in combination with primary vacuum pumps.
Construction characteristicsThe BOOSTERS drive shaft is directly driven by the motor shaft by means of an elastic coupling. The shaft passageis closed off by seals with oil. A cooling chamber is included for the shaft passage to eliminate the heat producedby the seal. All the seals are made of VITON elastomer. The RB type is supplied with an AC three-phase motor. The BOOSTERS can be supplied with free drive shaft.

This blower is provided with three lobe rotors, closed and dynamically balanced.Housed in a cast iron cylinder which has a specific system on the outlet side that obtainsa progressive compression and, consequently, a reduction of the pulsation at the pointwhere it starts.
Helical gears hardened and ground according DIN-6. The fitting on the shaft is conical.Oil splash provides lubrication to both gears and bearings. The sealing between the cylinder and oil housings is through labyrinth segment seal andintermediate condenser holes.A radial lip seal guarantees the drive shaft sealing.
Low pulsation and high frequency

Battery-operated electronic manometerMicroprocessor-driven high-precision compact digital manometer
It uses a piezoresistive pressure sensor, severely tested regarding pressure and tem-perature, and of which features are saved inEEPROM. The integrated microprocessorreads the pressure sensor signal and calcu-lates pressure with a precision of 0,1% inthe temperature range 0 to 50°C.
Pressure is measured and displayed twiceper second. The upper display indicates thecurrent pressure and the lower display indi-cates the maximum (MAX) or minimum(MIN) pressure since the latest RESET.Thismanometer is equipped with 2 control keys.
The left key starts the manometer andallows to select a function such as pressureunit. The right key activates the selectedfunction. It also allows to switch from maxi-mum pressure display to minimum pressuredisplay.
Available functions
RESET : When activating the RESET function, the pressure current value is recorded as MIN or MAX value.ZERO : The ZERO function allows to record any pressure value as a new zero reference.
So atmospheric pressure variations can be balanced. The zero factory adjustment of 3 bar and 30 bar measurement ranges is carried out at 0 bar absolute(when starting the instrument, atmospheric pressure is displayed). For a relative pressure measurement, activate the “ZERO SET” function at the atmospheric pressure.Manometers with 300 bar and 700 bar measurement ranges are calibrated with a 1 bar absolute reference.
CONT : The instrument automatically stops 15 minutes after one of the two keys has been pressed. The CONT function (Continuous) allows to deactivate the automatic stop.
UNITS : Manometers are bar calibrated. Pressure can be displayed in the following units : bar, mBar, hPa, kPA, psi, kp/cm2.
Each manometer is delivered with a gas 1/4” male adapter. An air-tightness coupler allows to position the manometer in an optimum way.

MIL'S is offering several solutions for control and regulation of the vacuum and air plants in Industrial fields.2 regulation modes are proposed :
• “ON/OFF” mode : starts ands stops the motor at pre-set values. This mode is advised for usual lowrunning operations.
• ”FLEXO” mode : starts the motor but stops it only when the pre-set time is reached, independently ofthe pre-set values. This mode is advised for usual high running operations, and to avoid too many motorstarts and stops.
