Play Group
During Terms 2 and 3 this year Parkes East Public School operated a Transition Play Group.
Approximately 40 children attended these special weekly activity groups. After 20 weeks of being involved in a variety of activities they graduated with a special visit to ‘big’ school.
The children celebrated with bike riding, making Christmas craft and preparing fairy bread. All the children are looking forward to coming to Kindergarten in 2015.
SRC
Christmas Raffle - Thank you to everyone who donated items to the Christmas Raffle. The lucky winners were: River Barr, Shaneal James, Courtney Murray, Isabelle Hughes and
Ron Nobes. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported this special raffle.
2014 In Review - The SRC has had a very busy 2014. We raised money for a variety of charities including the Red Cross, Jeans for Genes and Stewart House. My favourite fundraiser was Stewart House. The theme was Bad Hair plus PJ’s. We heard Mrs Lowe say, “This has been the most relaxing, enjoyable, happy day this term”. I think we would all agree with Mrs Lowe, it was the best day ever and we raised $160.00 for Stewart House.
We can’t forget our special Awareness Day for the SES which is a very important organisation.
In Term 1 - Our annual Easter Raffle was again held in conjunction with the Easter Hat Parade. Both activities were a huge success.
In Term 2 - ‘World Environment Day’ was held in June and the theme ‘Green and Brown’ was very popular with everyone.
In Term 3 - ‘School Tree Day’ was celebrated early in the term with children learning about how important trees are in the environment. We organised some competitions—Stage 1 had a colouring competition, while Stage 2 and 3 had a drawing competition.
This Term - We had our traditional Christmas Hampers and five lucky winners were drawn at the Presentation Night.
Landcare Envirostories
4/5L has been involved in writing Envirostories. The Landcare Envirostory Competition this year was based around the title Totem, Tucker and Tools.
4/5L wrote a class story called The Adventures of Jippy and Mippy. All the children received a certificate for excellent writing and illustrating.
4/5L would like to say a big thank you, to Catie Guise and Landcare for providing us with this fabulous opportunity.
