THE RIGHT FITBe prepared for a “This is it” feeling to wash over you when you visit the campus of
Midwestern State University! From the admissions staff, to professors and coaches, to the
MSU students who greet you when you visit, you’ll experience a warm Texas welcome.
With over 60 majors and several pre-professional programs to choose from, you’re sure to
find your academic interest as a student at MSU. For your best learning, challenge yourself
academically. We urge you to research opportunities with our professors and programs like
Honors, Study Abroad, and internships within your academic major. We offer academic
support in the form of academic advising, tutoring, and classes to help you build skills for
success. Traditions, like the torchlight parade, bonfire at homecoming, and the Burns Fantasy
of Lights in December will make your college experience memorable.
BEST VALUE FOR YOUR FUTURE
Our low student-to-faculty ration, combined with the annual cost of tuition and room and board,
make MSU one of the best values for learning in higher education. Midwestern State University was
recently named “One of the 10 least expensive public colleges for out-of-state students” by U.S. News
and World Report. As a public institution, our tuition is affordable. In addition, around 70% of our
students receive financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, student loans, and work-study
programs. We offer the cost of a public university but the feel of a private education with professors
who will know you well. Each year over 6,400 students from 26 states and 52 countries attend MSU.
That’s because MSU is the right size, the right place, and the right fit! Midwestern State University –
make it yours by setting up a visit today!

VISUALIZE THE POSSIBILITIES
THE REAL DEAL
You know how some college campuses feel like a “real” college while others don’t? Midwestern State is
the Real Deal. One reason is that so many students live on campus – and that’s because it’s so easy to feel
at home here. The heart of activity is the Clark Student Center, where you can eat delicious, healthy food
at the Mesquite Dining Hall or the Food Court. Visit the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, or pick up a
smoothie or mocha frappe at Java City.
NEW STANDARD IN CAMPUS LIVING
Close to the Student Center you’ll find Sundance Court, which offers apartments with living rooms,
kitchens, 2 bathrooms, and either 2 or 4 bedrooms. Spacious floor plans, walk-in closets, study lounges,
computer labs, and outdoor gas grills – it all takes campus living to a new standard! (There are other
fabulous living arrangements on campus as well, with Sunwatcher Village and Bridwell Courts.) Not far
from our residence facilities is the amazing Bruce and Graciela Redwine Student Wellness Center. With
over 50 cardio machines (each with its own television), plenty of free weights and weight machines, and
an indoor track, this facility is truly one of the best in the country. What else? An outdoor aquatics area,
state-of-the art group fitness rooms, and a fully equipped gymnasium.

PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING“Most of my professors were adamant about making the freshmen feel welcome,” recalls a
student majoring in business management about her first year at MSU. “They said, ‘Come talk
to me sometime,’ and that really helped with my transition.” That’s the rule, not the
exception, at MSU. Our professors are here because they love to teach. Whether you need
help with the latest concept in Calculus class or ideas for your art project, visit your
professors in their offices. See how accessible they truly are at MSU!
AMAZING SUPPORT
Advisors at the Academic Success Center guide incoming students in the selection of their
coursework. They also help “undecided” students explore career options and choose a major.
Eventually, students are assigned a faculty or staff advisor in their areas of study. Whether you are
working with an academic advisor or a professor, you will be mentored in the selection of your
courses and in your personal and professional development.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESEARCH AND EXCELLENCE
MSU professors are passionate about research, and they’ll encourage you to get involved and share
your results through opportunities like UGROW. (This program gives biology, chemistry, computer
science, engineering, geosciences, and math students the tools to be involved in interdisciplinary
research, with stipends and scholarships available.) The Honors Program offers
high-achieving students a challenging learning experience, from the Honors
Introductory Seminar, to Honors classes taught by outstanding faculty, to the Honors
Capstone Course. Students in this program enjoy opportunities for research projects,
field trips, professional conferences, scholarships, study abroad experiences, and
Honors housing.PRO

THE LIBERAL ARTS ADVANTAGE
Your liberal arts foundation at MSU keeps you flexible and increases your
appetite for lifelong learning. Employers seek the qualities gained by studying
the liberal arts: great written and oral communication skills, enhanced higher
order thinking abilities, and an openness to challenge and
diversity. These skills are transferable from one career to
another, which is so important in today and tomorrow’s
ever-changing global economy. An education at MSU in the time-honored
tradition of the liberal arts and sciences is the best preparation for a
meaningful life and professional career. Step into your future with
confidence when you hold a degree from Midwestern State!
You will want to get to know the Career
Management Center staff. They’ll help you

TEXAS-STYLE LIVINGLocated 15 miles from the Red River marking the Texas-Oklahoma border, Wichita Falls is the
county seat of Wichita County and is considered the population center of North Texas.
Wichita Falls is a perfect size for a city – 105,000 people who know how to live right, with
old-fashioned barbeques and outdoor music concerts. The city holds well-attended events
like the Hotter ‘n’ Hell Hundred and FallsFest, a city-wide festival held in September. The
Wichita Falls Museum of Art, located right on the campus of MSU, hosts Live @ the Lake, a
series of annual outdoor concerts.
MSU students enjoy mixing with this vibrant community. Have fun playing at a local Paintball
field. Play mini-golf and ride go-carts at The Plex. Watch Wildcats hockey games in a coliseum
seating 10,000 people. Enjoy disc golf courses and 40 miles of biking trails around the city –
including the trail around Sikes Lake, which happens to be right on our campus! River Bend
Nature Center holds 15 acres of trails, wetlands, and a butterfly and nature conservatory.
Check out the nearby Sikes Senter Mall for 80 specialty shops, restaurants, and movie
theatres. Castaway Cover Water Park has exciting water slides, concerts, and sand volleyball. Be sure to
enjoy the city’s very own professional symphony and ballet troupe.
INTERNSHIPS, JOBS, AND MORE!
Wichita Falls won’t let you down when it comes to internships and career opportunities. The city
is home to many manufacturing, professional, and retail businesses, as well as health care systems
and public schools. There are plenty of employers just waiting for you to knock on the door.
Alcoa/Howmet is a large area manufacturer, employing over 1,000 people. Sheppard Air Force Base,
which produces combat pilots for both USAF and NATO, is the largest employer in the area. The
base employs over 12,000 military and civilian personnel, including 5,000 students.
Quick – put on your jogging
gear, grab an apple at the
Food Court, run around Sikes
Lake, and you can still make
it to class on time!
Hotter ‘n’ Hell
Hundred is the largest
sanctioned U.S. bike
race with over 10,000
riders participating
each August.
Go Mustangs!
Take the challenge: visit all 37
parks throughout Wichita Falls
including Lucy Park, a 178-acre
