TODAYS BLACK MALE INTERVIEW PAGE 3 IN THIS ISSUE
Welcome to our newly revived
newsletter. Here at the 100 Black Men
of Maryland, Inc. we do a lot of great
things. We make a huge impact onBaltimore and the state of Maryland on
a daily basis. The question we ask
ourselves is How do we let folks know
what we are doing? Thats when the
light bulb came on. We have to create
our own newsletter to get the word out.
The 100 Black Men of Maryland, Inc. also
known as the 100 or 100 BMM, has
resurrected our old newsletter. Those
who may remember, at one time the 100
had a well-read newsletter with a huge
following. Somewhere along the way
we stop producing our newsletter.
Today we have decided to bring the
newsletter back to give our members
and supporters lots of insight on what
we do.
Our newsletter serves several functions.
The most important role is the sharing of
information between members. We are
a large organization with members in
various locations from Baltimore to
Central Maryland. It becomes a
challenge to share events and
accomplishments with everyone. Also
as some of our members age we stillwant them to feel included in everything
we do. Secondly, we have to toot our
own horn every now and then. We are
very excited about our past and our
bright future. We love to share what we
are doing with our most important
assets, our supporters. This newsletter
is as much yours as it is ours. We pray
that you will use the newsletter to follow
us and look for ways you can support us.
As our newsletter evolves feel free to
provide any suggestions. Wed like your
feedback on content as well as style.
Any member with an article or event
they want posted please let me know.
Finally it feels good to have our
newsletter back and we hope that you
will enjoy reading our reloaded edition.
Thanks,
Will Harrison

Congressional Briefing sponsored by the
National Commission for Teaching and
Americas Future (NCTAF)June 24
Brother Will Harrison and Towson
Student Jonathan Bryson joined me at
the NCTAF STEM briefing. This
Congressional briefing hosted by the
National Commission on Teaching and
Americas Future (NCTAF) provided a
blueprint for moving beyond traditional
teaching boundaries to achieve deeper
student learning, more effective
teaching, and higher impact community
engagement in STEM education.
This forum featured policy leaders from
Congress, business, government, and
philanthropy, as well
as a panel of high
school teachers from
NCTAFs NASA
Learning Teams
project in Maryland.
NCTAF presented an
important new reportwith findings and
recommendations
from its two year
NSFfunded study of
collaborative
teaching and learning
in STEM education.
The 100 supports the
work of NCTAF and
hopes to partner with
them in the future to
ensure ALL children have equal access toa quality STEM education.

Andrews' new album, Backatown (VerveForecast April 20), is the work of a rare
artist who can draw both the unqualified
respect of jazz legends and deliver a
high-energy rock show capable of
mesmerizing international rock stars
and audiences alike. With such an
unprecedented mix of rock, funk, jazz,
hip-hop and soul, he had to create his
own name to describe his signature
sound: Supafunkrock! Andrews is the
kind of player who comes along maybe
once in a generation, and Backatown is
the latest, clearest proof that his artistryis as singular as his raw talent. Shorty's
dream is now a musical reality of
potentially game-changing significance,
as he and his band prepare to shift the
musical landscape in a thrilling new
direction.
