Mix all that in with what has been
some of the best local racing in years, and, we’re off to a great start.
Tonight, the Allen Turner Pro Late
Models will again dazzle us with a pair of features. Young Garrett Jones and Fairhope’s Bryce Dulabhan, along with Pensacola’s Jeremy Pate, are raging a battle for the points lead with a mere 6 points between them. The new format for the series has met great success.
The Mods, Sports-man, and Bomb-
ers are also set to do battle tonight. Speak-ing of Sportsman, let us remind you, new division sponsor Beef O’ Brady’s, on Nine Mile Rd. will stay open late for your visit after tonight’s races. We also thank Bomber Division sponsor Cheryl Nelson of Butler’s U Pull-It,
Five Flags Speedway is celebrating 60 years
of racing and all of you who have been here for most of the time have a lot of fond memo-ries just like I do. I can remember, as if it was yesterday, coming out to the famous old speed-way to watch Hatcher, Boyette, Straley, Allison and many others get it on with some “Good Ole Hard Core Racing”, driv-ing the Ford and Chevy Coupes and Sedans of yesteryear.
I was just a kid and those days will never fade
away as I, for one, have watched this speed-way become one of the greatest half mile facili-ties in the entire U.S.A.
You want some proof of it being the best?
How about the Snowball Derby, voted the “Grand-daddy of All Short Track Races” and on more than one occasion it has been voted the best place to watch a race.
For you fans that are somewhat new to
Five Flags, we will try to give you a little taste of the old days tonight as we bring in the Vintage Cars.
These cars are mostly 32-34 Fords and
Chevys. They normally run at the area dirt tracks but like I said, we want to give you a taste of the good ole days. More on the cars inside.
Also on the marque are the Modifieds,
Super Stocks, Sports-man (it’s double points for them) and Bomb-ers as they will try to grab as many points as possible because time is running out on a great 2013 season. We are just 3 months away from the Snow-ball Derby, and cooler weather.
We will return on September 20th
with our final Buddy’s Home Furnishing Blizzard Series race for the Super Late Models. Look for a great field of out of town drivers for that race.
On SATURDAY, September 28th
the regular season will close the doors with our annual “Whata-burger Night of Champions”
You will see the Modifieds, Pro
Trucks, Sportsman and Bombers along with a 100 lapper for the Allen Turner Hyun-dai Pro Late Models.
For information on all upcoming
races be sure you visit our website – 5flagsspeedway.com or tune into our show “In The Groove” every other Tuesday night on BLAB/TV. We’ll see you at the races.
