IampleasedtoletyouknowthatMrs.WilliamshadababyboyonTuesday2ndOctoberweighinginat6lb12oz.Mrs.WilliamsgaveusallabitofafrightwhenthebabydecidedtomakeanearlyappearancehoweverbothmumandbabyOliveraredoingfine.
ThankyoutoeveryonewhodonatedcakesorattendedourMacmillancoffeemorning.Thepupils,togetherwithMrs.WilliamsandMrs.Morgandidafantasticjoboforganisingitall.Thepupilsallenjoyedacakeandsomehotchocolateorsquashoncealloftheadultsleft.Infact,theyenjoyedsomuchthatthepupilshaveaskedifwecanhaveahotchocolatemorningagain.So,wehavedecidedtohaveanon-schooluniformdayonFriday26thOctoberwithrefreshmentsforasmalldonationtoraisefundsforthepupils.
Headlicecontinuestobeaproblemwithinmanyschools.Whilstwedoourverybesttoinformyouifweareawareofachildhavingheadlice,schoolisnottheonlytimeorplacewhereheadlicecanspreadandtheyaffecteveryone.Thisproblemcanonlybebeatenifeveryparentcontinuouslyroutinelycheckstheirchild’shairandtreatsifnecessary.

InReceptionwehavebeencountingfrom1-10forwardsandbackwards.Wehavebeenpractisingaddingone.InYear1wehavebeenaddingtwonumberstogether.WehavealsobeenmakingsymmetricalpicturesinReceptionandinYear1wehavebeencompletingsymmetricalpictures.
Duringourtopicworkwelistenedto'TheLittleRedHen'andsequencedthestory.WewentonalisteningwalkaswewerefindingoutaboutoursenseofhearingandinReceptionwefoundoutabouthowsoundtravelsusingadrum.InYear1wecarriedoutaninvestigationtofindoutwhatmaterialsarebesttomakeeardefenders.

Class2–MrsDonnaDaviesThisweekwehavebeenwritingrecountsofourtriptoSt.Fagans,usingconnectives,suchas:first,next,then,afterwards,soon,inawhile,finallyandeventually.InMaths,wehavebeenusingthe‘column’methodtoaddandsubtract.Wehavecontinuedwithmultiplicationandsomechildrenhavestartedtocompleteproblemsusingremainders.Intopic,wehavebeenlearningabout‘rationing’inthewarandworkingoutasoldier’sdailyandweeklyrations,usingmultiplication,addition,subtractionanddivision(whensharingtherations).InICT,somechildrenhavestartedcreatingpoppiesontheirHWBaccounts.PleaseencourageyourchildtouseHWBathome.Thankyouforyourcontinuedsupport.J

Well,wehavecometotheendofanotherbusytime!ThechildrenhavebeenusingtheirnumeracyandITskillstocomparefoodpricesbetween1914and2018!ABIGdifference!Theyhaveusedspreadsheetstorecordandtotallistsandcomparedifferencesofprices.InWelsh,theyhavebeenusing3rdpersontowriteadescriptionofasoldierandhavecontinuedtheirstoriesabouttheirunknownwarriorinEnglish.InMathstheyhavebeenlookingatfractionsofamountsandroundingdecimals.Hopefullythe17ceramicpoppieswillbecompletedsoontopresenttoStMargaret'schurchandthechildrenarelookingforwardtotheircompletion.Pleasecontinuepracticingtablesandreadingregularly!
