CAR TRIVIA - Most Expensive Production Car
When we think of expensive cars, names like Bentley and Rolls Royce come to mind. But you could buy more than 20 Bentleys for the price of the world’s most expensive automobile. The Lamborghini Veneno (Italian for “venom”) is a limited edition supercar that boasts staggering power—its 740 horsepower engine can produce a top speed of 355 kph (220.5 mph). According to the manufacturer, this lowslung beast can accelerate to 100 kph (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds.
But as we mentioned earlier, the privilege of owning the Veneno comes with a shocking price tag—the roadster goes for an astonishing $4.5 million. Of course, the Veneno is more about making a splash than making a profit. Lamborghini is only producing nine of the cars, which are sure to be squabbled over by all manner of oil-rich sheiks and tycoons of industry, the only kind of folks with pockets deep enough to afford them.

Letter From The President Bob Mashburn President, Mile-High Section Spring in Colorado can be difficult, so is planning an
Event or Social. We have had to cancel two events,
the Project Angel Heart tour (January) and the
Mystery Dinner Theatre (May) due to lack of
participation. Our socials are down to just a few
showing up! This has also impacted the restaurant’s
as they have brought in extra staff anticipating a
larger group.
We have our May social on the 18th at the Old
Blinking Light and we are asking that if you plan on
attending to RSVP to Natalie at 303-988-2710 or
We will have some changes to all our socials starting in December 2016 through March 2017. All socials will be a Saturday breakfast or brunch. We will continue to participate in restaurant week and ask everybody to RSVP to all events. MBCA Rocky Mountain Regional Director, Michael Davison, is putting the trip to Mesa Verde National Park and Four Corners Monument together. For more information on this trip contact Michael at [email protected] Mark your calendars for October 22nd for our Presidents New Member Open House. This event is open to all members and will be a great opportunity to meet new members who have joined this last year (more information to come). We are always looking for more ideas for socials and events so if you have one let someone on the board know or if you would like to set up an event. We have two open spots on the board, we meet the first Thursday of each month. If you are interested contact me at [email protected] or 303-988-2710. Drive Safe Bob

SILVER STAR PRESERVATION CLASS
Silver Star Preservation Class is a special classification that recognizes original and unrestored cars.
This class is for cars 25 years old or older that are largely original and have been unrestored since new. It is intended for driver- quality cars that have withstood the ravages of time, climate and daily driving. It is not intended for “Trailer Queens”-for those we have a Show Class- nor is it intended for rusty and dirty barn finds that do not operate properly and have not been on the road for several years. This classification is designed to formally recognize original cars that meet the defined set of standards by presenting the owner with a certificate commemorating the event and displaying a photo and pertinent data, suitable for framing. A grill badge is also available for purchase. It can also add to the provenance of your car whenever one intends to sell or insure it. The certificate awards the owners who have treated their pride and joy gently over the years and have resisted the temptation to restore. As the saying goes," they are only original once" and as we all know, you cannot restore originality! Here’s how it works: To be eligible the vehicle must have been produced in 1991 or earlier. It should be in good working order, driven under its own power to the event and be largely original. Your eligible car should have an original engine and drive train. There can be partial refurbishments of various components, but no complete restorations can be accepted. The main objective of this judging is originality, not excess spiffiness. This is not a Concours/show car judging where every little thing gets demerits, where the car needs to be perfect. The car needs to be complete with all the parts that it came off the showroom floor and not boogered up.
IMPORTANT DEADLINES: May 9, 2016 is the last day to register and still get your car listed in the event
program. May 23, 2016 is the last day for online car registration. Don't wait...day of registration is NOT
guaranteed to be available this year.

In thinking of all
of the sacrifices
of our country's
military heroes:
Those who live,
those who died
and those who
continue to
serve
We are thankful
for all they do
and all that they
have done to
give us so much
that we can
never repay
