Midnight Run outreach to the homeless of NYC is in need of the following items: Men's - Jeans,
sneakers and boots, heavy shirts, t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, sweaters, sweatpants, sox, underwear, thermal underwear (tops and bottoms - M to 2XL), large gloves, hats and scarves. Women's - warm tops, jeans, bras, thermal underwear, sneakers and boots. Blankets and sleeping bags are always needed but please, no baby, child or teen girl clothing. Donated items should be labelled “Midnight Run” and left in the foyer of the Stone Church. Thank you. ********************************************* Come Join Us Before Mass! There is a group that meets every weekday morning at 6:30am in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in the Main Church. We pray the Liturgy of the Hours (also known as the Divine Office), which is about 15 minutes of prayers, psalms and meditation, and prepares us for the 6:55am Mass. Other than the Sacraments, it is one of the single richest prayer resource of the Catholic Church, which is prayed daily by all clergy—including Pope Francis (Another is the Rosary)! The purpose is to sanctify the day and all human activity. It is a wonderful way to start your day.
Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The devotion begins with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. A priest or deacon removes the sacred host from the tabernacle and places it on the altar for adoration. The purpose of adoration is to highlight the presence of Our Lord in the Eucharist. When a consecrated host is placed in the monstrance, it is said to be a solemn exposition. Our Parish offers this special time with Jesus from Monday to Friday, 9:30AM to 9:00PM in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in the Main Church. (There are exceptions to this schedule around holidays.) **************************************************************************************** IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ AGAIN. ParishPay is now WeShare -ACTION REQUIRED. Our parish's migration from ParishPay to WeShare, our new online giving provider, is complete. Your recurring donations will continue as scheduled. The security of your information is important to us. WeShare requires a one-time security verification of your account and email in order for you to be able to make any changes to your account or receive WeShare email notifications. Originally, we were told no action was required. (If you do not verify your information, you will not receive alerts, even if your credit card expires.) To authenticate your account you must visit the church website www.stpatricks-yorktown.org and click on the parishPay Donate Online button. Then choose the option “verify my account”. The first time you enter the system you will need your ParishPay user name, the last 4 digits of the bank account or credit card used with ParishPay and ONE of the following two options: the email address you used for ParishPay, or a collection name and the specific amount donated within the last 6 months. Please feel free to contact the WeShare customer service team for assistance at [email protected] or call 1 (800) 950-9952 and select Option 1, or Tobie Staib at the rectory - 914-962-5050 x 15 or [email protected].
A Note from the Pastor’s Desk Dear Parishioners, It is amazing that it is time to think about Thanksgiving and all of the celebrations that follow. One of the reasons we speak about “the holidays” is because in a short span of time we celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Of course, our major “holiday” is a major “holy day,” Christmas. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to the Lord God for all of the blessings in our life. Beginning with the gift of life itself, we as Catholic Christians know that there is no life except from God. Likewise we recognize that faith itself comes from God as a blessed gift to assist us in this life and lead us toward heaven. Hopefully, we all have many gifts for which we are thankful to God. For many of us, the blessing of living in the United States is a reason to give thanks. Of course, others around the world also give thanks for their living conditions, which are confortable and in many ways beautiful. However, many people in the world, even here in the United States, live in poverty or fear or pain. Perhaps we or some of our loved ones are in that situation. We certainly ask the Lord to continue to bless us and watch over us and we pray for those who are less fortunate. We should never take what we have for granted and we should never forget those in need. It is no wonder why so many people think of helping others during this time of year. Many in our own parish find ways to alleviate poverty, hunger or suffering of any type. Even in this bulletin, there are suggestions for ways to help: Collections for Catholic Charities, for our own Good Samaritan Fund, for food pantries. We can also provide Thanksgiving meals, Christmas gifts for the needy, etc. These are all ways to be thankful for what we have and to help those who have not. The greatest way to give thanks for us Catholics is to participate in the Mass. Eucharist is a word that means Thanksgiving. Let us come together often to pray the Mass and give thanks and praise to God, but perhaps with special gratitude on the eve of Thanksgiving at the 7:30pm Mass or on Thanksgiving Day at 9:00am (the only Mass that day). There is no better way for us as Catholics to give thanks to God, which is the true meaning of even the original Thanksgiving. Blessed Thanksgiving to all! Sincerely in Christ,
