Rally Sunday 13th
November2016
Pam’s Bit Hi All,
Our last rally was once again a bit chilly & super windy but had some sunshine
during the day. Please let me know ASAP if you are coming this rally so I can
organise groups. This rally will be our barrel racing clinic with the amazing Danni
Quinsee to teach us how it’s done, she will be bringing along her own horse to
show us how the expert’s do it. We will be having some time trials at the end of
each session & we will see who is the fastest. Our last session of barrel racing will
be open to any outside riders who want to give it a try at a cost of $40 which
includes day insurance so let your friends know. Our Cup Day got off to a slow
start due to the cooler weather but by lunchtime the crowds came & everyone who
came along had loads of fun on the golf, fashions or just enjoying being together for
a great event. Thanks to our small band of helpers who helped out over the weekend
& Cup Day itself. Thanks to those who made a donation for our Silent Auction
which was very successful especially the Wardle family (Jamie, Fiona, Isabella &
Spencer) who don’t even belong to Pony Club but come along every year to support
us. Our next rally will be our Gymkhana followed by our Awards night which will
be a week later this year so don’t forget the date. Get working on those costumes
for our amazing fancy dress section. Congratulations to our C Kids for passing on
such an awful day. Thank you to Leanne Lake for all her hard work & dedication
during the year with our C kids.
See you all at the next rally, Pam

Time to replace
your helmet???
PCAV is adopting the Pony Club Australia policy (see below). It states that any helmet with EN1384 manufactured in 2015 or earlier is approved. Any helmet with just EN1384 code manufactured from 2016 onwards will not be acceptable. This is a little different to the EA recommendation.
A helmet older than 5 years OR the lifetime the manufacturer recommends would also be a limiting factor.
Many helmets have more than one code so where this occurs there would be no cut-off
date restriction on their use (other than manufacturers recommendation). ie. if
AS/NZS3838 (or any of the other codes in the rules) is also listed on the helmet then it
is approved beyond Dec 2016.
Basically the AS/NZS 3838 is a much higher standard than the EN1384 so if it passes
both then it is approved for use.
The cut-off date ONLY applies where there are NO other codes listed on the helmet.
It is also recommended that whenever you have had a fall hitting your head that you
should replace your helmet.

Barrel Racing! Barrel racing is a rodeo event in which a horse and rider attempt to complete a cloverleaf pattern around pre-set barrels in the fastest time. Though both boys and girls compete at the youth level and men compete in some amateur venues and jackpots, in collegiate and professional ranks, it is primarily a rodeo event for women. It combines the horse's athletic ability and the horsemanship skills of a rider in order to safely and successfully manoeuvre a horse in a pattern around three barrels (typically three fifty-five gallon metal or plastic drums) placed in a triangle in the centre of an arena.
