NovigoAdvanced Public Address and Voice Evacuation System
Creating Perfect Places
2
An essential element of ensuring safety of lives is the ability to manage a phased and orderly evacuation in the event of an emergency.
The Novigo voice alarm system from Siemens not only offers full compliance with the relevant legal standards across multi-level, multi-occupancy estates, but also operates as an advanced public address system.
Novigo delivers high performance in automated and live messaging
Time as a key factor for evacuation
3
Modular Architecture
The Novigo platform is a sophisticated audio streaming voice system, suitable for the most challenging voice applications.
Novigo is highly scalable and tested in accordance with European standard EN 54-16 and meets relevant local codes of practice for installation. The solution is fully configurable with the capacity to extend to 4,000 network nodes; it can be split into zones to ensure appropriate messaging across particular areas and is fully capable of integration to third party systems.
During an emergency people are immediately notified about the nature of the incident and the appropriate action they need to take. These live or recorded messages reduce the potential for panic or confusion when an alarm is sounded, as the messaging is clear, informative and controlled.
Importantly, sound quality is excellent for both automatic and live messaging, as well as for any selected background music.
Public Address and Voice Evacuation System
• Modern digital system for managing alarm situations to immediately alert personnel
• Enables controlled emergency evacuation
• Choice of live and recorded messaging
• Multiple channels of digital audio offering studio sound quality
• Up to 4,000 devices on the network and 16,000 loud-speaker lines
• Remote access via cRSP enabling cost effective remote maintenance and remote operation
• Multiple interfaces to fire detection and security systems
• Redundant configuration means no single point of failure and continuous monitoring of all relevant components
• Controlled via intuitive, configurable touch screen GUI
• Operation via smart phone application, e.g. adjustment of volume levels and audio sources
• Decentralized audio system with no single point of failure
• Significant storage capacity for messaging and music files
• No latency for live applications

Novigo is an Ethernet-based digital audio network.
Signals from audio frequency (AF) sources are digitized and fed into the network. Conversely, digital audio streams can be taken at any point from the network, and prepared for analog processing.
Technical Overview
4
Novigo: Network
The Novigo system consists of multiple components including audio network modules, intercoms, keypads and amplifiers. Loudspeaker lines can be connected at each audio network module.
The individual system units are interconnected via a 100 MBit copper or fiber network via a switch (such as PN2001) and different topologies are possible within the network.
Audio and control signals are transmitted via the same network connection, with a capacity of up to 4,000 devices.
Novigo allows up to 64 audio streams in studio quality (48 kHz/24-bit with a constant latency of 1.3 ms at all exits) via the Ethernet-based network. Other settings for more channels at lower audio quality are also available.
Novigo: Technical Features
• For intuitive operation networkable keypads (station, panel PC, remote control unit etc.) are available.
• Utilizes certified network switches, power supplies and real-time configuration software.
• Comprehensive Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
• Integration of pro-sound applications, standard speakers available.
• PC-based real-time operation and configuration.
• Real-time configuration via the system software.

Emergency Mode
Novigo can be used as an automatic or manual evacuation system.
Studies reveal that many people do not react to conven-tional alarms such as bells or sirens. Many assume that it is a test or false alarm; others are confused and unsure of what action to take.
In the event of a fire or major alert, rapid and orderly evacuation is the highest priority. Novigo communicates clear messages about the nature of the incident and the next course of action using clear language, minimizing the potential for panic or confusion.
• Fire announcements
• Evacuation instructions
• Warnings
Standard Mode
Novigo can be used as a simple public address system for instant transmission of information as well as for background music.
• Live broadcasts for delivering information on organizational activities and relevant announcements
• Pre-recorded communications such as advertising and marketing campaigns, including messaging in different languages
• Continuous music to create a certain environment that can be interspersed with live broadcasts
