– Also called simple sugars:• Includes;

– Fructose– Sucrose– Lactose

– Great source of energy

• Complex Carbohydrates– Takes longer to digest– Include:

• Fibre• Starches

• Trans Fat– Found processed food– Can raise blood cholesterol and risks of heart disease

• Unsaturated Fat– Found in plant foods and fish– May be good for health

• Saturated Fat– Found in meat, palm oil, coconut oil and other animal products– Can raise blood cholesterol and risks of heart disease

What are Proteins, and what does it do?

• Complete– From animal– Contains all nine amino acids

• Incomplete– From vegetables– Lacks one or more amino acids

• Soluble– pectin, guar, carrageenan, gums, mucilage, and oat bran

• Insoluble– cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin
