EverywhereyoulookatOklahomaChristianUniversity‐‐ineveryacademicdiscipline,school,ordepartment,inintercollegiateathletics,ineveryadministrativeunit,incampusfacilities,instudentandfacultyserviceactivities,oramongouralumni,thereissomethingimportanthappening—vitalchanges,innovations,advances,championships,recognitions,andsuccesses.Ourfaculty,staff,students,andalumniensurethatyouruniversityisdynamic,istransforminglives,andischangingtheworldintoabetterplace.Belowisasamplingofheadlinescoveringnews,awards,events,construction,academicandresearchendeavorsthathaveoccurredduringthepastacademicyear.Thoughbynomeanscomprehensive,theyconveythebreadthoftheuniversity’sactivitiesandaccomplishments.Thissamplingincludesthenationalfirstplaceresultsbroughthomebyourstudentsinliterature,inhistory,andingolf,publicationsbyourfaculty,andotheraccoladeswonbyourfaculty,students,andinstitutionasawhole.ManyhavenotedthatOklahomaChristianUniversityisoneofhighereducation’sbest‐keptsecrets.Weareattemptingtosharethatsecretmorebroadlywithourconstituencies,thenation,andtheworld.Whatismissinglargelyarethehundredsofserviceprojectsbyourfacultyandstudents,aswellasthecountlessdailysacrificesofthefacultyandstaffthatenablesamodestlycapitalizedinstitutiontobeamajorplayeronthelocal,national,andworldstage.Whilethismessagecannotdojusticetotherangeofuniversityactivities,Ihopeitprovidesasenseofthevitalworkbeingdoneeverydayoncampusandhowwearebeingaccountabletoourstakeholders.Dr.MikeO’NealPresident,OklahomaChristianUniversity

• OC’sTauSigmachapterofPhiAlphaThetawasnamedtheBestChapterintheNationamonguniversitieswith3,000orfewerstudentsforthe13thconsecutiveyear.

• OC’sTauSigmachaptersubmittedits16thvolumeoftheOklahomaChristianUniversityJournalofHistoricalStudiesintheNashJournalAwardCompetition.Lastyear,TauSigmareceivedthirdplaceforVolume15ofitsjournal.

• PoliticalSciencestudentsattendedtheModelArabLeagueIntercollegiateCompetitionattheUniversityofBirmingham,competingagainststudentsfromschoolsinTexas,Oklahoma,andArkansas.ThestudentsreceivedawardsforOutstandingDelegate(PoliticalAffairs),OutstandingHonorableMention(SocialAffairs),andOutstandingHonorableMention(EnvironmentalAffairs).

• SixstudentspresentedresearchattheOklahomaRegionalPhiAlphaThetaConferenceattheUniversityofOklahoma.LeahLongplacedfirstandBenPetersonplacedthirdintheUndergraduate‐Europeancategory.DanielMcCormackplacedsecondintheUndergraduate‐Americancategory.

• DanielMcCormack,aHistory/Pre‐Lawmajor,hasreceiveda$14,000‐a‐yearfellowshiptoattendtheUniversityofTexas,wherehewillpursueaPh.D.inPoliticalScience.
