October and November have been busy monthsfor students! All new Delaware County TechnicalHigh Schools' students have been working oncompleting OSHA-10 Certifications. Ourreturning students, worked on Employability:Interviewing Skills Certification. We are proudthat every DCTS student will earn at least onecertification before graduation!
On Friday, October 18th, Welding students went to the 100th YearCelebration Open House and Trade show for Keen Gas inWilmington, Delaware! Two students won $300 helmets for winningthe virtual reality welding competition! They competed in Gas MetalArc Virtual Welding and competed in Shielded and Metal Arc VirtualWelding. Students had the opportunity to explore new products,see demonstrations, and watch seminars. They also learned costsaving and best practice tips for welding! More than 30 industryvendors were on site for students to ask questions and gaininformation!
Did your student know about our School to Career Programs?Delaware County Technical High Schools, in cooperation with Business Education Partners,has established school to career opportunities for all eligible students. Cooperative Educationis a unique plan for education designed to integrate classroom learning with supervised, paidwork experience. Learning by doing is the key to helping students relate schoolwork to realworld employment. Shadowing, Mentoring, Internships, Co-op Work experience, CompanyVisitations, Guest Speakers and Career Fairs are all designed to provide hands-onexperience in a specific career. School to Career programs have proven to help studentsdevelop a positive work attitude, increase self-awareness and responsibility, refine careergoals and enhance problem-solving skills. Consider School to Career programs as part ofyour technical school experience!
Job Shadowingallows students to visit a place of employment and observe exactly what trainedprofessionals in their career area do on a daily basis.
Mentoringis a longer term program where the student can spend approximately two weeksobserving the trained professional at his or her place of business.
Cooperative Work Experienceis a wonderful high school experience for seniors who meet all the eligibilityrequirements. Through co-op, students have the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-onwork experience while being paid.

Classroom in Action Days!
DCTS welcomed Parents on November 12th, 2019 to visit their students andwitness our classrooms in action! Parents participated and observed toexperience a day in the life of their child at DCTS. It was a rewarding opportunityfor students to be able to demonstrate to their parents the skills they are learningevery day at DCTS! Be on the look out for future Classroom in Action days!
