As the plague threatens to destroy the city Oedipus sends his brother-in-law Creon to the oracle.

Oedipus learns the truth of his birth, and runs out of the palace and finds that Jocasta has killed herself and asks Creon to kill him but he then submits to Creon’s leadership and awaits the oracle that will determine whether he will stay in Thebes or be cast out forever
