KANDY - There is no politics involvedin the arrest of General (Retd) SarathFonseka by the Army. Sarath Fonseka isheld under the existing laws of the coun-try, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagamadisclosed to media personnel in Kandy yes-terday (15). Minister Bogollagama respond-ed to media personnel after having anaudience with the Mahanayake Theros ofMalwatte and Asgiriya.

closed that he hadenlightened all foreignleaders the circum-stances that led to thearrest of Gen. SarathFonseka.
“I have educated allheads of states the cir-cumstances that led theto the arrest of the for-mer ArmyCommander. I have
said that there was no political motivation
or any motive of revenge in the arrest,Bogollagama said.
Fonseka was dealt within the provi-sions under Army regulations. However,Fonseka has already enjoyed his libertyand rights under the law of the country bypetitioning his case to the Supreme Courtagainst Human Rights violation,” theMinister said.
He said that every citizen was equalunder the existing law of the country andthat the laws of the country were equal tothose of any developed country in the
world.Sarath Fonseka has the freedom to
prove his innocence and be free. There wasno political pressure against him.President Mahinda Rajapaksa was awarethat Fonseka was contesting against him.But President Rajapaksa did not raise anyobjections, the Minister added.

The 2009-2010Peradeniya TeachingHospital Project hasseen an expansion in
the Preliminary CareUnit with the donationof medical equipment.
The KurayashiRotary Club of Japanand the Kandy RotaryClub had a close rela-tionship since 1993.
The other membersof the Japanese delega-tion were: Rev.Teruzumi Fukushima,Mrs. Yoshite Muraki,Kimie Makihara, KenjiKobayashi andFukuichi Sasaki.
