all learned something and made lasting memories!
Duck Splash and Aids Walk were such great events! There is a recap
video produced by ERHS Bulletin Editor Kevin Qui that can be found in
the Eagle Rock Key Club Facebook and YouTube page! Remember
to check that out! In October we also had a sandwich making service
project, where members of the Division prepared over 300 sandwiches
for the homeless! They were all donated to the local Salvation Army!
Fall Rally South is just around the corner! Remember to RSVP to your

I have gone to Fall Rally the past three years,
and will be attending this year as well. Fall Rally
has been an amazing experience for me
because it has allowed me to share my passion
for key club and get to make new friends from
outside of our division as well. The spirit rallies are
so exciting and knowing that the money all goes
to PTP makes me feel like we are making an
impact on our community.
HOW MANY YEARS HAVE
YOU GONE TO FALL RALLY
SOUTH AND WHAT HAS IT
BEEN LIKE FOR YOU?
ALDEN SANCIO SECRETARY
I have been to Fall Rally once, my sophomore
year. It was a really fun experience cheering
with all my friends and getting on the rides with
them. We were constantly asked how we felt
when we were waiting in line for the rides, and
meeting new people. I was not able to attend
my junior year but I will be sure to go this year
and have enough fun to make up for not
going.
Hey there Key Clubbers, I hope
you’re all doing well because Fall
Rally South is less than a month away!
We’ve sure had a lot of service
events and fundraisers to attend
these past few months (in which I still
encourage for photos and articles to
be sent in about) where you would
sometimes see spirit battles go on or
be asked “How do you feel?” Well
Fall Rally is the place for you to find
out why we key clubbers scream,
cheer, and overall enjoy ourselves at
any Key Club event. Hope to see you
all there!
Sincerely,

I attended Fall Rally South, 3 years in a row
and plan on attending this year as well.
My most memorable experience was my
freshman year because during the spirit
session I was astonished at the size of
Division 3 and the big Obama we had.
That Fall Rally South was the beginning of
my life as a Key Clubber and it was the
first time I ever cheered my heart out. Fall
Rally South has always been an event
close to me that I await for every year. I
adore meeting Key Clubbers from other
divisions that inspire me because of their
enthusiasm and that is something iconic
because rain or shine the enthusiasm
these Key Clubbers have is what makes
Fall Rally truly special.
EILEEN WISCO NEWS EDITOR
I have been to Fall Rally for the past 2
years and plan on attending this year as
well as next year when I’m a senior. Fall
Rally has always been amazing as I get to
experience some true Key Club spirit and
get to understand the meaning as to why
we serve and why some people are so
happy to serve.

RUSH
September 11th marked the day of John Marshall High School's first ever
Club Rush. During lunch, many clubs in our school set up their own tables
for students to visit and learn about their respective clubs. Key Club had a
great turn out having many students sign up and simply take an interest.
We printed a bunch of flyers and even made a ton of posters such as "10
Reasons Why You Should Join" and "Ask us how we feel!" Our new school
principal, Ms. Heideman, an alumni of Key Club, was the first to ask us how
we felt. The cheer definitely grabbed the attention of all the students and
other clubs at the basketball courts. It was a fun experience to basically
advertise our club publicly to the students. Seeing all the new faces
definitely got me excited for this school year.

The Child S.H.A.R.E. Gala was a wonderful event; I’ve volunteered for Child
S.H.A.R.E. before but this experience was unlike any other. I never really knew what
Child S.H.A.R.E. was until after the gala, I was always just there to volunteer. But I’m
glad that I did, not only did I learn some basic sales techniques but I learned
about the many foster children out there who need a home.
While working with a legion of remarkable volunteer coordinators, Magy, Eileen
and I handled the tracking of auction bids, selling bids and games at the
beginning of the program and helping the coordinators clean up and put
everything away. Upon handling these tasks, I was faced to approach many
adults who seemed intimidating at first but with a bit of persuasion and a smile
they came around.
I wouldn’t mind volunteering at another gala like this one as I learned a lot from so
many people in just one night. I can imagine what it can do for the members in
our club if they choose to attend.
ANNIKA ARAMBULO Herbert Hoover
On the 13th of September, I and other fellow
Key Clubbers got to experience the
eccentricity of Frogtown and its respective
Art Walk 2014! Not only was the scenery of
the quaint township charming, helping the
friendly community made my experience
that Saturday all the much better. Arriving at
half past noon, I got to help assemble the
glow sticks and fliers that would be sent to
the main portions of the Walk. Later, my
friend Grace and I got to walk down the LA
River Bikepath, posting up maps by the
beautiful life size cranes that schools in the LA
County had decorated. Then, other
volunteers and I went around the town and
put up street signs to direct people to the
festivities - all the while munching on delicious
homemade tacos and looking at the
beautiful works of art that local artists were
putting up! By the end of the day, it was
suffice to say that my time spent at Frogtown
was productive and positive!
LUCINE POTURYAN
Volunteering for the Frog Town Art Walk was
quite unique. It shows how much work and
effort people in charge of the activity put into
it. It also shows the how much they seem to
care and feel relief when they get volunteers.
Luckily I was one of those volunteers and had
the experience of setting up The Frog Town
Art Walk. They had us doing individual tasks in
separate group just as: Putting up maps/signs,
traffic cones, blockades, and table vendors. I
was in the group that had to put a map every
quarter mile for about a mile or two. The
maps were placed on the Los Angeles River
Bike Path to tell people where their exact
location was and how to get back to the art
walk. Once we were done with that task, we
were ordered to put signs up in street corners
to alert people what direction the art walk
was and also to the direct vehicles. We were
given free tacos after we finished our
volunteer work and the enjoyment to explore
the art walk. You can see it at two ways for
volunteering: giving back to the community
and having fun with friends; I look it at both
ways. I see that our help made this activity
occur and people that were associated with
the activity did not have to burn through
steam to get it done. They had helping hand
all around, and even though they still were
sweating, at least they weren’t sweating
buckets. At the end of the day it was great
seeing the art walk finally put together and
the supporters that followed it.
ADRIAN RODRIGUEZ
On September 13th, I volunteered at
Frogtown Artwalk 2014. Partners of Dorris, a
local elementary school organization,
reached out to our club searching for help
on their annual neighborhood artwalk. We
helped out with various tasks such as setting
up tables/chairs, arranging different
booths/artworks, and placing out traffic
cones/signs throughout the streets. This event
was one of the most intense service events I
believe I've ever participated in. Why?
Because of the blazing heat. Nevertheless,
with the limited volunteers we had, we all
beat the heat and completed our tasks. I
thought that this was a pretty fun event. I'm a
huge supporter of the arts and being able to
see all the different art pieces from paintings
to sculptures was just amazing. It was also a
great bonding with the members I serve.

JOHN MARSHALL KEY CLUB EVENT SEPTEMBER 13
As a senior, it was my first and last year in RTC. I
missed out on so much about a truer and deeper
meaning and objective of being a part of Key
Club. Going through workshops training to
become or interested in other positions such as a
Secretary. What I learned about being a secretary
is that it involves a lot of hard work and time to be
put into the job. Knowing about upcoming events
and planning it out builds leadership and
responsibility. The leadership and responsibility not
only builds as a secretary but in all positions.
Members, Cabinet, district, region, international;
they all build a pyramid and members are the bass
and the top of it. Every single person is important
and can impact a much better change with a
bonus of having fun and creating a better
community with service hours. Moreover, I would
not have known any of this without going to this
event which makes me a little bummed out I
missed out on this kind of opportunity in the past
years.
MARVIN DOLLANO Herbert Hoover
I have attended this year’s RTC (Regional
Training Conference) and I am glad that I
did! Even though I have been a Key Club
member since last year, I realized that there
were a great number of things that I did NOT
know about Key Cub! Luckily, the RTC was of
great help and there I was able to learn
about many topics in different little sessions.
There was a big variety of sessions that
helped me learn more about Key Club! Also,
During RTC, I was able to make new friends
from different divisions and “battle” against
them in SPIRIT BATTLES!!! It was a very LOUD,
CRAZY, and FUN experience! I had a very
good time at our RTC and I know for sure
that I will attend RTC the next time!
LIA KIM John Marshall
The month of September was definitely a
growing experience for Holy Family's core
officers and the new Key Club members. An
event that was a great learning experience
was the Region 7 Training Conference.
Officers who were new to their jobs, such as
President, Jordan Bautista, and Vice
President, Melra Necor, received valuable
information about their positions in Key Club,
listened to presentations, and participated
in workshops. They plan on applying the
lessons taught to them for future events
throughout the year. Following the Region 7
Training Conference, Holy Family held their
first official club meeting of the year that
consisted of returning Key Club members, as
well as several new eager freshmen that
were willing to devote their time and service
towards upcoming Key Club events. The fire
was sparked into the future of Holy Family
Key Club as core officers gave brief
explanations about what Key Club is all
about. The pledge and cheers were also
taught throughout the meeting, leading the
new members with baby steps of
excitement to get outside of their comfort
zone. This is the start for an enthusiastic and
continuously growing group of Holy Family
Key Club members for the 2014-15 year.
CHARISSE TALARO Holy Family
RTC was full of interesting, beneficial workshops. It
included "Technology SafeKEY" which explained
one of Kiwanis' newest initiatives to promote the
safe use of social media and workshops for specific
officer positions to teach them how to be the best
leader possible. But there were also two sessions of
a service project, which allowed Key Clubbers to
mingle with one another while making
bracelets. Lunch took place at 12:15, and pizza
and chips were served. At the end an epic spirit
battle, which involved plenty of dancing and
screaming, took place between the
divisions. Lunch was followed by general session,
where presentations were given on DCON, Fall
Rally, and the Thirst Project, a nonprofit which
hopes to spread the word about the global water
crisis and raise money to provide people in
developing countries with clean water. Then the
divisions all held DCMs, and when we were all
finished, we ended the day with a massive group
photo. It was great getting to meet members from
other Key Clubs and learning more about my
position!
EMILY RAMOS Herbert Hoover
On Saturday, September 27, was the Region 7
Training Conference, or RTC. At first I was very
hesitant to go because I felt like I wouldn’t
know anyone, but I decided to be brave and
go anyways. It was better than I expected.
There were lots of key clubbers, epic spirit
battles, and different workshops that teach
you all about Key Club. There were a lot of
workshops we were able to go to. It was like
school, but with much more spirit. There was
one workshop in particular that really inspired
me, which was, How to BEE a leader. They
talked about their personal experiences with
bullying or insecurities, and it related to not just
me, but a lot of us in the room. Also, I was
pretty surprised how brave people were to also
talk about their personal experiences with
people they don’t know. The presenters had
very inspirational speeches and advices that
taught us to be able to stand up for ourselves
and that no one should care what people
think because what you think about yourself is
all that matters. Overall, it was very fun and a
very productive event. I got to meet new
friends, learn more about key club, and have
an idea on who I would like to become in the
future
MARJORIE LAMBAN Benjamin Franklin
RTC! My first Region Training Conference was
awesome! It was a great experience not only
because I had tons of fun meeting new
people, but also because I learned many new
things about Key Club. We registered and
soon after our whole region was asked "Region
7, how do you feel?”, and you know what
happens after! We had various workshops that
will help our board members and our club as a
whole. I learned ways to better improve my
duty as our club treasurer and as a Key
Clubber in general. I had a general
understanding of what Key Club was about,
but at RTC I learned how important Key Club
and its members were locally and
internationally. RTC was also a constant day of
cheering! At one point the divisions began a
spirit battle, which sadly I lost part of my voice
in. Then we attended another workshop were
we learned more about "PTP," "Eliminate," and
the "Thirst Project." I learned how much of an
impact one individual can have on our world!
And After this general session we had our
DCM where we gathered up and talked
about our Club Events as a Division! And we
happily concluded the day taking a picture as
one huge Region 7 Family! I would be glad to
attend next year's RTC because it was a great
and enlightening experience! I would highly
suggest any Key Clubber to attend RTC! It is an
event you will never forget!
RUBEN ANGUIANO Benjamin Franklin
I never fail to learn something new
whenever I attend a training conference
like RTC. On September 27th, I attended
Region 7 Training Conference. Like every
year, many of the members that make
our region come together in day of
learning, bonding, and spirit battling. The
day consisted of many informative
workshops benefiting not only board
members, but members in general. Every
year that I have attended, the
experience is a bit different, and I always
end up learning something new. Not only
did I learn more about my position and
other leadership skills, I, along with the
division, participated in spirited battles.
Yes, even with our business casual attire,
many of the key clubbers still cheered
their hearts out. The thing I love about
events like these is that you get to meet
so many new people who are just like
you - servant leaders.

KEY CLUB WEEK
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3 Show your K in every way: Show people what Key Club is all about! Spread the word by
wearing Key Club gear and publicizing Key Club Week in local stores, your school Web site,
community newspapers—even on the radio. Officially announce Key Club Week in your
community with a proclamation and refer to the Key Club public relations manual to get great
tips on how to publicize Key Club in your community.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4 Kudos to the Key players: Personally thank all the Key Club supporters you know—teachers,
advisors and other Key players. Write thank-you notes, host an appreciation dinner or do
something uniquely your own style to recognize the contributions of these special people.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5 Connect the Ks: Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world and is a
member of the Kiwanis family. Celebrate the entire family of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang
involved. Connect with local Kiwanis, Circle K International, Builders, Kiwanis Kids or Aktion clubs
and team up for a joint service project.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6 Bring a friend to Key Club: More members = more service. Increasing the amount of service
Key Club performs increases the impact Key Club has on the world. Bring a friend, or two, or more
to your next Key Club meeting.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7 Your way: This is your club’s chance to do its own thing and make its mark. Pick a project, plan a
recruitment party or combine activities from the other Key Club Week days. Whatever idea you
choose, take it and run with it.
