2/11
WELCOME!
Welcome to Fitz! This is your official timetable for Freshers Week (4th
-12th
of October) and includes JCR social events in
addition to those put on by College. In general, you can take your pick of what to do, but events that College say you must
attend are *starred and underlined*.Updates will be put on http://fitzjcr.com as well as the JCR Twitter and Facebookfeeds, not to mention the Fitz Ents Facebookpage, so keep your eyes peeled for those.
We recommend that Saturday is the best day for you to arrive if you want time to settle in before starting off on this
masterpiece of a timetable, but definitely do try to get in before we stop selling gowns (4pm on Sunday) or your gownless
self could stand out at the Matriculation Dinner on Monday. If for some reason you cant get here in time, please email any
member of the JCR and we will try our best to sort you out.
Your Ents team (fabulously pictured below) will be strongly present at the Fitz Societies Fair as well as other events during
the week selling FreshersPacks for 10. These include a T-Shirt necessary for the legendary pub crawl and a ticket for what
will undoubtedly be the highlight of your week (if not your life)Fitz Up Look Sharp. Theyll also be selling additional
wristbands giving you cheap entry into Cambridges clubs on Wednesday and Thursday (theres no pay ing with cash on thedoor during Freshers Week).
So with all that being said, the most important thing is to have a great time and hopefully this guide will help you do just that.
Theres plenty to do whether you drink or not, so get involved! You only get one FreshersWeek, so dont worry about
remembering names and dont worry about lecturesyouve got plenty of time for that.Just go ahead and enjoy yourself!
Love,
Fitz Ents

Saturday 4th October
Meet and GreetNorth and South Porters Lodges
One of the JCR committee members (look out for the flashy hoodies) will take you to pick up your
room key and university card as well as sign your room contract (keep all of those safe!). Theyll thenshow you to your room and help you with your belongings should you need it. Were a friendly bunch,
so if you need any help at all just ask!
N.B. Its best to be dropped off at the Porters Lodge on Storeys Way(the South Plodge) and get your
family to park on the Huntingdon Road side (the North Plodge) as thats much closer to your
accommodation which will make it a lot easier to unpack.
Tea with your corridor repsYour Corridor
Corridor reps are 2nd
years who have volunteered to help you settle in on the first day. Theyre there to
answer any questions you might have as well as help to get you set up on theCollege Wi-Fi, Hermes
webmail and Raven (your Cambridge login). Its really important to do this as keyemails, suchas yourbill, will be sent in the first week of you being here. Remember your corridor reps as they can be a
good way to get to know people in the year above as well as providing friendly faces around college.
Meet your staircaseA Block = Stretton Room, B Block = Societies Room, C Block = JCR
E Block = TV Room, F Block = Bar, P Block = Upper Hall 1
Your corridor reps will take you to the above places to give you a chance to socialise with your block.
Be warned, therell be the ice-breakers you thought you left behind in school, so embrace them.
Meet your JCRReddaway Room
In what will almost certainly be another highlight of your week, youll have the chance to meet us andget any remaining questions you have answered.
DinnerButtery
Reward your hard work unpacking with some dinner, which will be held at this time throughout full
term. Whilst youre at it, why not arrange to meet your college parents if you havent already done so?
Theyll give you the benefit of their years worth of wisdom and make sure you know whats what.
Speed Mate-ingButtery
Youve met your corridor. Youve met your staircase. Now its time to meet your year. Overseen by a
glamorous speaker to make sure that there are no awkward moments, get ready to meet a lot of
people. Fast.
BopBar *Fancy Dress
Bops usually happen after Superhalls (fancy dress formals held twice a term) and are parties held for
the whole college in the bar. The theme for your first bop is RUBIK'S CUBE. Confused? Each of you
should turn up wearing a ridiculous amount of clothes in a range of colours (ideally red, white, blue,
yellow, green and orangeyouve guessed it, the colours of a Rubiks Cube). The aim is to trade and
finish the night wearing only your blocks colour.
A Block = Orange, B Block = Green, C Block = White, E Block = Red, F Block = Yellow, P Block = Blue
So get down to Primark and get creative with the cardboard, paint and everything horrendous in yourdressing up box. Bops are all about having a laugh, so ridiculous costumes, cheesy music, and a sweaty
bar are absolutely guaranteed.

Societies Directory (http://www.cusu.cam.ac.uk/societies/directory/) to form an idea of what you want

Registration with Huntington Road SurgeryWalker Room 11
Its really important that you register with your nearest Surgery (literally a 5 minute walk) in the case
that you do need a GP. Youll be able to do this in College. If not, youll have to go there in your owntime.
Introducing CICCUMeet in BarCICCU is the Cambridge Inter-Collegiate Christian Students Union. No hour-long sermons or intense
preaching. Just come along for some free pizza and drinks and listen to what the Fitz CU has to offer
and why you should consider joining.
Scavenger Hunt ft. Punting and PubMeet in BarMultiple challenges. Thirty one colleges. One afternoon. Who will win the Fitz Scavenger Hunt? By
choosing prizes that wed rather not give away you can be sure that a few hours of diving around
Cambridge will be time well spent.
Why not then try your hand at a bit of punting down the River Cam? A great way to see some of the
colleges along the river, and one of THE things to do in Cambridge. Its impossible to fall in the Cam,
except for a very special few!
Youll be hungry by this point, so mark your last day of true freedom in style by treating yourself to a
typical pub meal in the company of your new Fitz family.
Pub QuizButtery
We expect you already know how quizzes work. You might even think youre quite good at them. But
you have never done a Cambridge pub quiz. A quiz where the competitive streak that everyone tries tohide in the name of making friends is revealed when you desperately try to remember the name of
every member of S Club 7. The stakes are high, but at the end of the day its only a quiz, right?
Club Night @ CindiesMeet in Bar
Cindies (officially called Ballare) is probably Cambridgesmost popular club and is definitely its
cheesiest, playing a combination of recent chart hits, 90s pop and even the occasional Disney number
(Lion King anyone?). Students tend to flock here on a regular basis and tonight will be one of its busiest
nights of term.
