Class Description:
This class will deal with the fundamental concepts of basic shapes and accurate
drawing, arranging an exciting and interesting still life set-up, preparing your canvas and the initial
lay-in, creating a strong focal point, and understanding when and how to use hard, soft and lost
edges. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of learning to really see your subject matter, and
the importance of understanding light how it reflects on different planes of objects, and how cast
shadows help to create excitement and energy in a painting. Maxine will encourage your individual
painting style and show you ways to improve and grow within your own technique. She will also do
a one-hour painting demonstration. The workshop fee is a $100.00 donation to the AAG building
fund.
This workshop will be Saturday, September 18, 2004, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Arizona Artists Guild building, 8912 North
4th Street, Phoenix (2 blocks south of Dunlap).
