The Community Egg ProjectChickens...the new family pet!Chickens make excellent family pets, theyare just the ticket! At just 24 weeks old, spring pullets are reaching their point-of-layand will begin providing an abundance ofdelicious golden-yoked eggs!
Children love animals, especially ones thatrespond so well to love and respect. Backgarden chicken keeping has many rewards.
My passion for chicken keeping goes back anumber of years. Hatched at home our fivegirls are a fascinating additions to our family.A small flock of chickens will give any familyhuge delight. If you are pushed for space, aself contained chicken run will give your girlsplenty of space to scratch around during theday. Alternatively, if space isn’t an issue, these small inquisitive birds will thrive in a
free-rangeand stressfree environmentwithin your back garden.
With a little effort comes amazing rewards, lessons of life, love and respect, and aboveall, fresh eggs!
The Community Egg Project works to findhomes for a small number of chickens each month, safeguarding your garden with general help and support promoting backgarden chicken keeping.
The project is non profit making and looking fornew families to get involved. For more info:-Email: [email protected]: 0161 975 7937Visit: www.thecommunityeggproject.co.uk

Spring: the Start of the Kitten SeasonHelp reduce the number of unwanted kittens
New Year is a timefor looking forward, for sizing up thenext twelve monthsand for makingthose all importantresolutions afterthe Christmasbinge.
At the RSPCA wehave much toprepare for, butone of thebiggest problems
we will face in the spring is the start of thekitten season. The sheer volume of unwantedkittens coming into our care at this time isstaggering and, of course, often hugely disheartening.
Many people still believe that it is better fora cat to have one litter before beingneutered, but this is simply untrue andmerely adds to the thousands of unwantedanimals that end up homeless each andevery year.
The only option available to help avoid thissituation and help animal charities like oursthat have to cope with the influx of unwantedlitters is a remarkably simple one: NEUTERING.A simple and routine operation, castrationsand spays have a multitude of benefits forboth cat and owner. For example, a neuteredcat will never contract testicular or uterinecancer, is less likely to mark their territory orstray and, of course, will never have anunwanted pregnancy. Plus, did you know, just one pair of unneutered adult male andfemale cats can be responsible for up to 50million offspring?
For an owner, the cost is low: around £30-50depending on the vet and gender of the cat,and if you are on benefits or in receipt ofstate pension it is less than £20 at theRSPCA Animal Hospital. For the RSPCA the costs of rescuing and rehoming just one cat is a staggering £210.So, this New Year why not give your cat anew start too and save from adding to the18 million cat population in the country.

In the summer of 2011 theEllesmere Park Residents’Association commissionedan engraved stone seat andtwo stone benches to commemorate the excavationof the Roman road that runsthrough the Three SistersNature Reserve in the heartof Ellesmere Park. The seven-tonne seats were installed
with the help of two local businessmen,Jonathan Seddon (Seddon Group Ltd) andKen Palmer (Palmer Demolition Ltd).
The residents of Ellesmere Park excavatedthe Roman road in June 2005 as part of theTime Team “Big Roman Dig”. The road wasbelieved to have been constructed in about200AD and connected the fortress town ofMamucium (Manchester) with Coccium(Wigan). It is thought that the road was usedto supply Mamucium with coal and otherraw materials from the surrounding areas towards Coccium.
With the help of the Wigan ArchaeologicalSociety the road was located using a groundresistance ‘geophys’ survey. The excavationtook place over a two week period and involved digging three separate trenches topositively determine the track of the road. The team confirmed direction and width ofthe road; it followed a perfectly straight lineacross the field, as would be expected with a
Roman road, and it was approximately 7m(22 feet) wide. It is believed that the total extent of the road still surviving is some110m. Given the urban location, it is veryrare for a significant length of Roman roadto have survived in such good condition.
The construction of the road was that of aclassic rural Roman road. The surface had adefinite camber to allow the water to draininto the ditches running alongside the road. The road surface was made of local stone, inthis case river-washed alluvial stone, probablyfrom what is now the River Irwell, which inRoman times was a wide flood plain west ofManchester. The northern side of the roadwas constructed on a bed of branches, presumably because the ground was verywet and needed some form of foundation. This material has now decomposed andforms a characteristic black carbon layerunder the road.
As part of the project the residents arrangedfor over 180 school children from 6 differentschools to visit the site allowing them to gainexperience of an archaeological excavation.
It is hoped that visitors to the Three Sistersusing the new seating will reflect on the history that lies only a few inches beneaththeir feet.
If you would like more information on theRoman road through Ellesmere Park contactJohn Rabbitt at [email protected]

i-Lipo™ is the latest in laser lipolysis, offering you a way to achieve inch lossand body contouring with no pain, no needles and no down time.
How does it work?
The i-lipo uses a low level of visible red laser light to stimulate the body'snatural processes that empty the stored fat contents inside fat cells.
The laser energy creates a chemical signal in the fat cells, temporarilyopening pores in the cell wall through which the fat contents can escape. The contents are then transported around the body to the tissues that willuse them during metabolism to create energy. Thus i-Lipo is not creatingany unnatural reaction in the body nor does it affect or damage any surrounding structures such as skin, blood vessels and peripheral nerves. This metabolism of the contents permanently removes them from the bodyleaving smaller fat cells and giving you inch loss.
i-Lipo : The intelligent alternative to liposuction
i-lipo works on thighs, buttocks, stomach, calves, knees, arms, “lovehandles”, hips, chin, man breasts and baby bulge. Equally effective on both men and women.
What Svelte Body clients say....Ann from Worsley - Oct 2011:-I lost several inches on my first session which amazed me from such a simple, fuss free and painless procedure.
After 8 sessions I lost the equivalent of a dresssize around my stomach area. Free use of the power plate was an added bonus & helped tone the rest of my body.
In just 4 weeks I feel more comfortable in my bikini & its given me the incentive I need to keep on exercising. The therapists were always friendly, accommodating & flexible on timing of appointments.
From Louise - Boothstown - Oct 2011:-I had been fed up with my hip & thigh area for aslong as I can remember. Size 8-10 in clothing, Idoubted that i-lipo would have any effect.
After 5 sessions the results began to show & my clothes proved it. The appearance of the area treatedalso improved - Amazing ! Over the 8 sessions I managed to treat both areas & lost a total of 11 inches. My clothes feel so much better & I am feeling much more confident wearing them. I am really pleasedwith the results & would recommend you give it a try. After all, if there is an answer why suffer !
