INTRODUCTORY NOTES
On
a
monthly
basis
the
Officer
of
the
Watch
Blog
publishes
a
report
regarding
maritime
piracy
incidents.
The report focuses mainly in vessels of the Merchant Navy (Bulk Carrier, Chemical Tankers,
Containershipsetc).Although thenumbersofmaritimepiracy incidentshavedecreased the last few
years,stilltheproblemremainsand increasedvigilanceshouldbeshownbycrewofvesselstravelling
throughpiracyinfestedwaters.
Theaimofthisreportistohighlightpiracyrelatedincidentsandgivebackground informationonwhat
has happened in each one of them. Such informationmight be useful to persons involved in the
maritimeindustrysinceitmaybeusedasreferenceonattackpatterns/tacticsbeingfollowedbypirates.
